We're going to kick off P.C.C.M. 44 with a coal train that needs to head out from R.M.O. Electric to Hudson Coal. The booming business that has been going on with the expansion of trackage at the power plant, plus the increased business the A.P.R.R. has been awarded, more coal is needed.
Train UHC-1 (Unit Train Hudson Coal) will take the empty coal hopper cars from both R.M.O. Electric and the empties that have been staged at Rock Ridge Yard over to the Weehawken Yard. Once at Weehawken, an engine change will take the train to Hudson Coal via Selkirk.
R.M.O. Switcher #900 heads out to pull all of the empty coal hopper cars out of R.M.O. Electric. Due to the last minute call, 1/87th Sir Larry has been sent over to R.M.O. Electric to make sure the move is done quickly and efficiently. They'll be staged on the Rock Ridge secondary. This engine has specific limits and due to the amount of cars to pull, will set them off to be picked up by PC 3141/3111. At the controls of RR-1 will be 1/87th Senior Engineer Ed. Who better to navigate today's traffic but he! No discussion needed!!
Now that the cars are set off, #900 heads back to R.M.O. property.
Meanwhile back at Rock Ridge Yard, AP #100 with caboose #50 (painted by the Patti-O shops of the N.Y.C.T.L.) pulls the remaining empties from yard track 3 and will add them to other empty hoppers.
Waiting for Rock Ridge Tower operator 1/87th John B gives them the green signal, they'll proceed north via the Rock Ridge secondary to Weehawken. Usually, Weehawken trains head out of the yard thru the south part of the yard, but there's a lot of traffic heading to Rock Ridge and the southern end needs to be clear.
Green signal is given, and train UHC-1 now proceeds to the next signal, which is the Rock Ridge yard limits.
Waiting for the clear signal, UHC-1 is at the ready.
It looks like 1/87th Engineer Ed is heading out to an approach signal. He knows that today's traffic at the Little Jamaica interlocking has all traffic proceeding cautiously.
Now we see WV-2 on the approach heading to Rock Ridge Yard. A local train from Weehawken has some mixed freight that will be sent out later in the day...
A few hours later, train UHC-1 is seen arriving at the approach to Weehawken.
PC U30C #6533. along with U25B 6513, will take the empties to Selkirk. At the throttle is 1/87th Ralph, a legend in the Penn Central world...
Engines 3141/311 are cut and will head over to one of the servicing tracks in Weehawken for fueling and its return to Rock Ridge..
PC3141/3111 are clear and PC6533 will hook up to the train. Once the air brake tests are completed, they'll be on their way! This set of engines are now designated as UHC-1, and will continue to Hudson Coal to Selkirk.
Train UHC-1 is on the move! Next stop, Selkirk and then on to Hudson Coal!
That wraps up P.C.C.M. 44A. The action continues as we head over to Terminal Yard as the N.Y.C.T.L. is at the ready!
Thanks for watching and stay tuned for more action!!
Really great start to PCCM 44! I’m a big fan of your unit train of coal hoppers headed to Hudson Coal. 1/87th Atjoe is honored to be the conductor for the train. I’m sure PC Ralph will do a good job getting the empties on there way with all of that GE power at the head end.

Well done Sir Neal!!!! Great way to kick off the action! Videos were a nice treat and the 1/87th scale gang looks to be on top of their game again! Very enjoyable.
Coal is King ! Another impressive array of coal cars and locos. Clearly the crew must be happy being so busy because of the resurgence of coal. Really nice job with the photos and videos. Thx.
