P.C.C.M. #88 Part 4 - Last Of The Freight Delivered!

Welcome to the final installation of P.C.C.M. #88, a three layout virtual operating session!

Today we're going to get the reefers dropped at C&P Restaurant Supply, some long awaited parts for Ideal Auto Parts & Electronics, as well as an RBL car to be loaded at Tropicana along with some piping to expand operations; plus some covered hoppers for Cargill. Last, some sand from T&R Gravel to keep those engines from slipping on the rails!!

We start out today with AP GP38-2 #304 taking the 4 PS-2 covered hoppers from T&R Gravel loaded with engine sand to the AP Richmond Hill Engine Terminal. These engines in the winter do go thru a lot of sand. 1:87 Scale Mark will run these to the terminal....

Meanwhile AP RS-1 #200 'Spirit Of Jay' with 1:87 Scale Engineer Jim will run some cars over to Tropicana and Cargill - once the Yardmaster stops barking at him!! Sheesh!

Tower Operator 1:87 Scale Rich T. gives him some last minute train orders since traffic around the area is going to be hectic. He'll go out as AP Train RCT-4. We think the last words Rich told him was "It's going to be a long day...!"

Now AP #304 stops at the tower as he picks up his orders. They depart as AP Train WRE-3 to Richmond Hill Engine Terminal...

Rich T. tells Mark that he needs to hold at the signal. They need to give him a caboose to run with. AP MP15DC #106 and 1:87 Scale JP run the caboose over to the train on Rock Ridge departure track #1...

The caboose is added...

Waiting for the signal...

...And we have departure signal!

AP Train WRE-3 heads out!!

Highball thru West Harold Interlocking! Next stop! Richmond Hill Engine Terminal...!!

Meanwhile, over at C&P Restaurant Supply, 1:87 Scale Engineer NJ John is back in the cab to deliver the reefers....

The caboose is dropped off...

Cars are shoved on to track 1 and track 2...

That's a lot of reefers for the warehouse to handle. They'll call over to the yard to have them move the cars in and out once they unload both tracks...

NJ John picks up his caboose to head back to the yard...

A long day for John, so he stops at the favorite diner of the AP crew "Meet At Ralph's"! I hear John likes pancakes as well as grabbing a chocolate chip cookie, courtesy of Freihofer Bakeries from the free cookie bowl at the counter...

Over on the Rock Ridge Secondary, Jim is going to drop some cars for AP #100 to shove. Jim will drop cars at Tropicana...

AP #100 will drop 3 cars on Cargill Grain track 2. The grain was loaded from the Pier 16 Silos on the N.Y.C.T.L.

We're done here! Back to the power plant!

So what's left? A couple cars for Ideal and one for Marcal. AP MP15DC #107 will handle the run. 1:87 Scale Stuart will make the trip today. Before they can leave, the AP yard crew has to position the PC box car, which came from Terminal Warehouse...

A couple moves later, and trying not to get in the way of others, the moves are made...

Now AP #107 will head out as AP Train RI-1...

Departing on track 2, they wait for the signal...

...And head out!!

A short time later, they start the switching duties. Little Jamaica tower operator 1:87 scale Bob will get them moving. He's a veteran of the Erie Lackawanna, and he let's them know who's running the railroad!!

The moves are starting and the first of two moves are at Ideal...

The next car is dropped at Marcal and they head back to the yard...

The crew is parked for the day, and the work is finished for today!!

So, it looks like word got to see crews at "Meet At Ralph's" diner, and look what we spotted outside the place. I'm sure they're inside just waiting to meet some of the engineers and crews from the area....

It's a wrap on the A.P.R.R.!! It's great to be back on the virtual op series! Many thanks to John and Ralph for their patience and running some sessions without the A.P.R.R. I do know that Ralph's Kings Port Division will be sending the AP quite a few cars on our next virtual ops!

Until next time! Thanks for reading!!

P.C.C.M. #88 Part 3 - Freight Heading Out & More Inbound Freight

Welcome back to the continuation of the inbound portion of P.C.C.M. #88 on the A.P.R.R. Freight has been rolling in and now we have some freight that needs to get to some of the consignees...

Today we start in Rock Ridge Yard. AP RS-1 #200 "Spirit Of Jay" will be working some local deliveries within the Rock Ridge Yard Limits. 1:87 Scale Engineer JP will work the run as AP train RCT-4 delivering to Tropicana and Cargill...

Looks like JP will be sitting for a while...

AP GP38-2 #303 laid up overnight in the Yard. Today the crew will head out as AP train RCP-2 running directly to C&P Restaurant Supply. The 'Reefer Train' (Not to be confused with the cult classic 'Reefer Madness'). 1:87 Scale Engineer NJ John will take the freight over to the industry, and run back light...

AP train RCP-2 heads out to C&P Restaurant Supply...

A quick stop at CP South with some final instructions from Tower Operator 1:87 Scale Rich T.

AP Train RCP-2 has a yellow 'slow' out of Rock Ridge Yard on track 1. Normally this train would head out on track 2, but rail traffic ahead and the shove at C&P dictates otherwise...

AP train RCP-2 heading out from Rock Ridge Yard....

NJ John and his train are stopped at the east end of West Harold Interlocking. There's opposing traffic ahead. PC Extra 8148, a 12 car coal train from Hudson Coal in Empire City brought this train directly to Rock Ridge. The entire train is for R.M.O. Electric as the winter season is approaching. Might as well load up now...

The AP train and PC train meet!!

AP train RCP-2 will head over to C&P and tie down for the day since NJ John's time in the cab is up.

PC Extra 8148 is at the Rock Ridge Yard Limit and awaits the signal. They'll head over to R.M.O. Electric where AP SW1500 #100 will pull the loads and spot them at R.M.O. Electric...

He's got the signal....

Over on the Rock Ridge Secondary, the crews get to work...

AP #100 has 1:87 Scale Norman in the cab, and he'll work spotting the cars. he has a plan to spot all 12 cars!!

The moves begin...

Norman has dropped all 12 loaded coal hoppers! Great work by both crews!!

The crew of PC 8148 makes a quick stop at the Rock Ridge Yard office. They'll stay overnight at the engine terminal...

...But not before tower operator Rich tells them they can't head out, so his suggestion is...

...have a meal at Meet At Ralph's Diner. So they do!!

We'll cut it here for today. Tomorrow we'll wrap it up with the last of the freight being delivered...
