P.C.C.M. #104 Outbound On The A.P.R.R. - A Call For Coal And More!

Welcome to another edition of Penn Central Cars Movements, #104 in the series! The is a two layout move between PC Ralph's Kings Port Division Railroad and my Atlantic Pacific Railroad. Sir John is on a well deserved vacation and will be back for our next P.C.C.M.

A call from the management of the A.P.R.R. to the management of the K.P.D. asked for a large shipment of coal as the reserves at R.M.O. Electric are at a critical low. It hasn't been cold in Rock Ridge, NJ for a couple years and the winter snuck up on them. In addition, they needed some coil loads for a special project they're working on. The A.P.R.R. is sending up 10 empty coal hoppers and 2 PC gondolas.

The A.P.R.R. crew gets ready to send this train out as it's a quick turn.

AP MP15 engines #106/107 with Kai and Jim in the cabs get ready to pick up the 2 PC gondolas over at Shapeless Steel bound for KP Steel on the KPD...

They check in at CP Industrial South Tower before departing the yard...

And head out....

Arriving a short time later at Shapeless steel, we see a pair of PC gondolas on track 1 ready to be picked up...

They couple up to the gondolas and head out....

A short run back to Rock Ridge Yard....

And tower operator Rich T. gives them permission to proceed...

Meanwhile, over at the power plant, Engineer JP gets ready to pull the empty hopper cars...

JP starts pulling cars from track 1, then on to tracks 2 & 3...

As the coal cars are on the industrial track, JP awaits the switch and signal to shove the cars over to the yard...

The signal is given and JP will shove the 10 cars to the yard...

The cars are shoved on the west ladder...

JP is now back at the power plant. In a few days, those coal hoppers will be back filled with coal...

Over at the yard limits, a trio of F7 A-B-A units will take the train to Weehawken and then on to West Mill with its final destination of Selkirk, NY. They have three non-PCCM box cars for Selkirk that will be routed to another destination outside Albany, NY....

Three RBL box cars with finished wood products will be part of this train...

AP MP15 #105 with Norman at the throttle starts the build for the outbound train...

The PC engines are in position and pick up the outbound cars as Norman heads back into the yard...

The outbound train is ready to depart...

PC Extra 1675 has the signal and is ready to depart....

PC Extra 1675 departs Rock Ridge for Weehawken then on to Selkirk as PC Train WV-2 stopping at West Mill before arriving Selkirk...

That's all for now. Check back in a few days for the arrival of the coal train from the Kings Port Division with coal and coils!

Thanks for reading!
