P.C.C.M. 41P: ROCK RIDGE YARD

Greetings followers of the the Atlantic Pacific Railroad and the Penn Central Car Movements!

Rock Ridge Yard is the center of all the action as Train WR-1 arrived in Rock Ridge. This train originated in Weehawken and made great time to Rock Ridge. PC 8045 has its nose out of the south end of the yard due to the congestion in the yard.

Meanwhile, Sir 1/87th Larry has assembled the yard crew to let them know what's on the agenda for today. They need to break down WR-1, get the coal cars ready to be delivered to R.M.O. Electric, and then get a crew together for the rest of the freight that needs to go out.

PC 3141 is called into service to move some cars around and and eventually be used to run the coal cars over to the power plant.

A caboose is always needed for the coal move as multiple engines are involved. Protect the train is the motto! Not to worry, A.P.R.R. #100 SW1500 is brought over to add a caboose to the train. At the helm is 1/87th Senior Engineer Ed. In the cab is 1/87th Ralph, engineer in training. 1/87th Ed will guide his student thru the maze of tracks in Rock Ridge Yard.

1/87th Sir Larry is letting 1/87 Senior Engineer Ed know what he's up against. 1/87th Ed, smiling and telling 1/87th Sir Larry 'Not to worry, this is a piece of cake!'

Now that 1/87th Senior Engineer Ed and his student 1/87th Ralph attach a caboose to the train, PC 3141 is dispatched as train RN-1 the Rock Ridge North Turn. They'll head out to Cargill and R.M.O. Electric and hand off the cars to the crew at the power plant. Sir 1/87th Neal has made an arrangement with the engine crew at the plant to assist in servicing the neighboring Cargill facility when needed. Today is one of those days!

Next up. Work continues at Rock Ridge as freight needs to be delivered to Marcal, C&P Restaurant Supply and of course, Tropicana!

Stay tuned!!

P.C.C.M. 41O: TRAIN WR-1 WEEHAWKEN TO ROCK RIDGE

Greetings followers of the the Atlantic Pacific Railroad and the Penn Central Car Movements!

The action continues as train VW-1 arrived in Weehawken. A crew change was made and will now depart as train WR-1 - Weehawken to Rock Ridge.

The yard is busy as Weehawken had another train ready to head to Philadelphia. However, since VW-1 ran late due to mechanical failure, he's given priority to head out.

Sir 1:87th Sir Neal has given instructions to his railroad management to make sure this train gets into Rock Ridge as quickly as possible!
Train WR-1 has a stop and proceed signal at West Harold, makes the stop (more like a slow crawl), gets his approach signal, and heads out to the next interlocking at Little Jamaica

At Little Jamaica, an approach signal is at the ready as he rolls thru the interlocking area.

Now outside the Little Jamaica interlocking, Train WR-1 stops outside of Rock Ridge Yard. He's being held as Train RM-2 is heading out to Morrisville Yard outside of Philadelphia.

Due to congestion at Rock Ridge Yard, Tower Operator 1/87th John B is having WR-1 wait for the train to clear as he needs to run him thru the north end of the yard. An unusual move, however 1/87th Sir Larry is overseeing the move from the tower.

They're crossing him over at CP East. This route will take them past some other industries such as Tropicana and Cargill.

In the background is Ideal Auto Parts, a major supplier to the Ford Motor Plant outside Empire City.

That Cargill facility towers over the area. Not sure what they have 'cooking' today, but I'm sure it's something that will be used in some of our favorite foods...

Traffic against WR-1 is being held as the train is entering the yard, passing CP Rock. This is the north end of the yard. Sir 1/87th Neal has accumulated so much land in the area, he can afford to have the yard double ended and accessible from both the NJ and PA leads without burning up fuel and man hours.
Train WR-1 is heading down the west ladder in Rock Ridge Yard. Sir 1/87th Larry has guided tower operator 1/87th John B. thru this unusual but successful move in the yard. Kudos to 1/87th Sir Larry!

As 1/87th Sir Larry shows us, train WR-1 is now in the yard and will be classified so the locals can get the freight delivered with the least amount of down time.

That's all for now. Next up, freight needs to be delivered for Cargill, R.M.O. Electric and a host of others. Stay tuned!

P.C.C.M. 41N: ARRIVAL OF TRAIN VW-1 SELKIRK TO WEEHAWKEN

Welcome to the continuation of P.C.C.M 41 with the arrival of train VW-1 Selkirk to Weehawken.

We last saw VW-1 leaving West Mill heading down to Weehawken on Ralph's incredibly scenicked Kings Port Division Railroad http://kingsportdivision.blogspot.com/2017/11/pccm-41h-second-train-with-cars-for.html

After the train left West Mill, VW-1 had to make a stop outside of West Mill due to motive power failure on 6533. While 8045 was still able to creep back to West Mill, the yard had PC 7893 available to add to 8045 and proceed to Weehawken.

Heading down the river line, VW-1 has to make up for some lost time and get to Weehawken for a crew change. Now approaching the north end of Weehawken, VW-1 slows down to obey yard limits. This crew had a long day and will stay over in Weehawken for the night.

Weehawken Yard is pretty busy this day as a number of locals need to head out. Some will head to Philadelphia, and another down to Morrisville Yard.

Next up, train WR-1 Weehawken to Rock Ridge will head out with a new crew. Sir 1/87th Larry will be in the yard waiting for this one as he'll need to check the manifest to see if any freight needs to be prioritized at Rock Ridge.

Stay tuned!

Arrival of Train AP-1 from Terminal Yard

This is a special event on the A.P.R.R. thanks to the artistic talent Sir 1:1 John R. has been given. As you know, the joint E.B.R.R. / A.P.R.R. project concluded it's second phase with the completion of eight Atlas 50' double door boxcars. Six cars are painted in A.P.R.R. colors and two are in E.B.R.R. colors. Two E.B.R.R. cars are numbered the same and two A.P.R.R. cars have the same numbers. These will be divided between 1:1 Sir John and myself for use in the virtual ops.

To: Terminal Yard
To: West Mill

From: Rock Ridge Yard

Arrival of Train AP-1 from Terminal Yard via West Mill & Selkirk to Rock Ridge Yard

We left off with Train AP-1 leaving Terminal Yard on John's N.Y.C.T.L. http://newyorkcentrallayout.blogspot.com/2017/11/ebrr-aprr-paint-project-conclusion.html
and then thru the dark of night on Ralph's  KPD thru West Mill http://kingsportdivision.blogspot.com/2017/11/pccm-41l-short-mountain-branch-train.html
When trains leave Selkirk, they usually make a stop for a crew change or change of motive power. Not this time. Orders are in place that train AP-1 head thru Weehawken and make a stop for all of the executives of the A.P.R.R. at Baskerville Jct, which is located on the outskirts of Rock Ridge Yard.

Approach signals are in place at West Harold and Little Jamaica due to the diverting route to Baskerville Jct.

Train AP-1 has arrived at Baskerville Jct. Sir Neal has gathered the entire executive crew to admire the newly arrived freight cars that once inspected, will immediately go into revenue service.

Sir 1:87th Neal, very proud, is telling everyone to carefully look at the freight cars as the train starts up and heads to Rock Ridge Yard...

Sir 1:87th John is on hand pointing out the new cars to the A.P.R.R. personnel..

Sir 1:87th John has pointed out the pride of the freight fleet: The new 86' 4 Door Box car that will be used exclusively between Ideal Auto Parts and the Ford Motor Plant in Empire City. He's very proud of the paint job his crew did for the A.P.R.R.

The train departed Baskerville Jct. and is arriving at Rock Ridge Yard.

Sir 1:87th Neal is meeting with Sir 1:87th Larry. Being the Chief  Conductor on the A.P.R.R., Sir 1:87th Larry will make sure the cars ready for revenue service and has briefed his crews about the new cars.

A very special 'THANK YOU SIR JOHN!' is in order as he's outdone himself on the paint jobs on all these cars. Look for these cars on future P.C.C.M. virtual operating sessions!

ROCK RIDGE YARD AND SIR 1:1 NEAL....OUT!!
