P.C.C.M. #61 Part 2 On The APRR

Greetings followers of the Atlantic Pacific Railroad and the Penn Central Car Movements!

The action continues as AP train RW-1 heads out from Rock Ridge to Weehawken. As he approaches the West Harold interlocking, he's held at a stop signal.


Another PC train is spotted at the opposite end of the interlocking and RW-1 knows this route is usually clear!


A radio call is made to the West Harold Tower Operator:

Train RW-1: RW-1 to West Harold. What's the hold up. Over
West Harold: RW-1 we have congestion in Weehawken. Train NE-2 from Potomac with AP motive power is heading to Newark via Weehawken and has priority clearance. Over
Train RW-1: Can you route me over Weehawken North? Over
West Harold: Negative RW-1. We have late running Train WV-2 that was due hours ago coming into the yard. Over
Train RW-1: 10-4 West Harold. RW-1 waiting permission to proceed. Over.





Once the traffic runs thru the interlocking, Train RW-1 finally makes his way to Weehawken!

P.C.C.M. 61 Part 1 On The APRR

Greetings followers of the Atlantic Pacific Railroad and the Penn Central Car Movements!

This is a four layout Virtual Op Session featuring:


The Atlantic Pacific Railroad has been very busy over the past 2 months as the freight business has started to take off. Seasonal deliveries have increased, and demands by customers throughout the system have added to the load. 

Some industries have been getting so many deliveries, the loads were emptied to make way for more inbound freight. This results in cars being unloaded or loaded, then moved to Rock Ridge yard for other destinations.

We start out with engine RS-1 #201 called into action.


A set of PC PS-2 covered hoppers that came from T&R Gravel with sand for the APRR Terminal is back in the yard. The 3 cars # 882147, 882509 & 877242 are set on the east ladder in rock Ridge Yard.




Next move in the yard are a set of KP&W freight cars. Two cars from American Hardware, #30112 & 30115, which is within the Rock Ridge Yard Limits had been moved to a classification track to make way for another delivery to the industry. They're heading back to Peerless Appliance. The other three cars, #64450, 64452 & 64455 will head to Acme Auto Parts, per the request from 1/87th PC Ralph of the Kings Port Division. 



Next up, APRR #201 heads out of the yard with designation RC-1, the Cargill Turn. There are four APRR cylindrical covered hoppers, # 88274, 87945, 87942 & 88279 are loaded with grain products for the Hostess Bakeries in Empire City. I wonder if this load will be used to make Hostess Twinkees? Rumor has it that 1/87 Sir Neal really likes them (Hint, hint to the owners of Hostess Bakeries!)




The train heads back to the yard as RC-2 and stages the cars on the west ladder yard track.



This crew is really getting around. Since the other crew is making deliveries, they're sent out again at RI-1, headed to Ideal Auto Parts with a stop for a car that was at Marcal Paper and moved next door to Freihoefers to make room for empties at Marcal. EB car #358160 is headed for Ralph's Grocery in Empire City.


With the car in tow, Train RI-1 heads over to Ideal Auto Parts to pick up a set of three cars; EB 503827 & 608279 are for the Ford Plant in Empire City. The other car will be dropped off in Selkirk for distribution to another csutomer.


APRR #201 has picked up the three cars and now works its way back to the yard as RI-2



Ideal Auto Parts has been very busy over the past 2 months, as the Ford Plant has increased its demand for parts. While the engine pulled 3 cars out of Ideal, there were 2 86' double door box cars loaded in the yard waiting for the the next train out to Empire City. APRR RS-1 was at it again pulling EB 67358 and PRR 125921


This was the last of the cars. A call to the Richmond Hill Engine Terminal for a set of road engines yields a pair of Penn Central GP40's for the trip from Rock Ridge to Weehawken. 


RS-1 #200 had pulled a caboose to add to the train, once the engine checks in with tower operator 1/87 Norman. He's been on duty all day, and once the train is on it's way, he'll head home until the next work day. 


The train is now ready to head out. 1/87th NJ John is giving final orders to the engineer of the day. 



With orders in hand, a quick call to the tower, and he's given is 'Green' Signal!


PC #3141 is designated as RW-1, Rock Ridge to Weehawken is on it's way!
