P.C.C.M. #76 Part 6 - Delivering The Freight To Consignees On The A.P.R.R.

Welcome back to the conclusion of P.C.C.M. #76 on the Atlantic Pacific Railroad. This 3 layout move has freight coming from Sir John's N.Y.C.T.L. and PC Ralph's K.P. & W. Penn Central themed layouts!

Today we're going to get the freight delivered as follows:

Train RT-2 delivering box cars ans gondola cars w/ pipe loads to Tropicana

Train RR -5 from R.M.O. Electric receiving loaded coal hoppers

Train RTA -1 with deliveries to Freihofers and Three Amigos Warehouse

Train RC-3 - dropping covered hoppers at Cargill

Train RTA-1 with AP GP38-2 #303 will drop 4 KP&W box cars from Zenith TV and Peerless Appliances to Three Amigos Warehouse. From there local trucks will pick up their orders.

AP SW1500 #100 with 1/87th Scale Matt at the throttle will build the train for the crew of RTA-1

Someone working the yard buried NYC covered hopper for Freihofers Bakeries, so the crew needs to pull it for this train. Management will hear about this back at the office!

The train is just about ready to head out, and ....

They need a caboose!

A little discussion with 1/87th Scale NJ John, who is in charge of the yard for today. He's not a happy guy since RTA-1 was held up. They can't blame Stuart - he's still on suspension. Not to worry, NJ John will get to the bottom of it...

AP #303 is moving into position to head out north thru Rock Ridge. 1/87th Scale engineer Steve is at the throttle with his trusty sidekick conductor Bob...

AP Train RTA-1 heads out. First stop - Freihofers Bakeries with a car load of flour from Red Wing Milling in Empire City

Back over at R.M.O. Electric, 1/87th Scale engineer JP will run over to the yard and pick up 6 car loads of coal from Hudson Coal on the N.Y.C.T.L. The empties will go out on a future P.C.C.M. He's radio called as Train RR-5

Lets watch the coal move in Rock Ridge Yard... 1/87th engineer JP makes this job look easy!

AP #900 gets the inbound coal hoppers spotted on the tracks within the industry//

Meanwhile AP #100 has to drop some loaded box cars over at the newly opened ShopRite Food warehouse. These are non-P.C.C.M. moves, and will be used in future virtual op sessions.

You have to have chocolate at a supermarket. Remember that old saying: "N-E-S-T-L-E-S Nestle's makes the very best....Chocolate!"

The moves are made and AP #100 will have a couple more move to make...

Here we see AP #100 heading to Tropicana as AP Train RT-2....

A quick run over to Tropicana, and the cars are spotted on their inbound tracks...

Meanwhile Train RTA-1 leaves Rock Ridge Yard, heads over to Freihofers, drops the covered hopper and heads over to drop the 4 box cars at Three Amigos Warehouse..

A quick stop at CP West Harold to let tower operator 1/87th Scale Norman (who happens to wear the hat of the official APRR photographer) telling Steve to proceed to make his moves...

The crew pulls 5 box cars from track 1 which will head back to the yard to be used in both virtual and non-virtual P.C.C.M. moves...

The cars are spotted, they pick up the caboose and will head back to the yard...

Let's watch them head out from Three Amigos Warehouse and West Harold Interlocking....

Let's watch Train RTA-1 works its way back to Rock Ridge Yard..

Train RTA-1 back in the yard...

Just when we thought the last of the moves were finished, 1/87th Scale engineer Matt needs to drop 3 covered hoppers from the docks of Pier 16 in Empire City at Cargill. Train RC-3 and AP #100 are out again! Talk about a full days work!

Let's see the drop of the cars at Cargill..

AP #100 brings back to the yard a non-P.C.C.M. PC covered hopper which will head over to Freihofers later on...

The move is made and AP #100 is back in the yard. A good days work by everyone in Rock Ridge.

The inbound portion of  P.C.C.M. #76 on the A.P.R.R. is complete! Don't forget to follow the rest of the inbound freight on  Sir John's N.Y.C.T.L. and PC Ralph's K.P. & W. Penn Central themed layouts!

Welcome back to the continuation of the inbound portion of  P.C.C.M. #76 on the A.P. R.R.

Today the crew will sort out the inbound freight from Selkirk....

AP SW1500 #100 with 1/87th Scale NJ NJ John at the throttle will start breaking down the train to classify it for the next days deliveries in and around Rock Ridge...

Here's the first set of moves in Rock Ridge Yard

Next move will be to get the PC covered hoppers with sand out of the yard...

A quick stop at CP South to chat with tower operator 1/87th Scale Rich regarding the move...

The KP&W block of cars are going to be moved, but not before we see the next move for those PC covered hoppers...

AP RS-1 #200 the "Spriit Of Jay" will head out to the engine terminal with the 4 PC covered hoppers loaded with sand from T&R Gravel.

The last move of the day will be to position the freight cars from the KP&W...

The yard moves have been made. AP SW1500 #100 and the caboose are now laid up on track 1 on the west ladder.

We'll end it here for today. Tomorrow the freight will head out to the consignees in and around Rock Ridge.

Don't forget to check out the inbound moves on Sir John's N.Y.C.T.L. railroad. My favorite views on his railroad is the engine terminal! Not to be outdone is PC Ralph and his K.P. & W.  railroad. My favorite view? The car float! What's your favorite! Let them know on their blog!

P.C.C.M. #76 Part 4 - Inbound On The A.P.R.R.R

Welcome back to the inbound portions of Penn Central Car Movement #76! This is a three layout virtual operation, with freight coming from Sir John’s N.Y.C.T.L. and PC Ralph’s K.P. & W., both of which are PC inspired, as it shows!

Today the Atlantic Pacific Railroad and the crew in Rock Ridge are preparing the yard for the inbound train from Weehawken. This train originated in Selkirk, NY where it picked up freight from both the N.Y.C.T.L. & the K.P. & W.

We start off with the arrival of PC Train VW-1 which is the Selkirk, NY to Weehawken, NJ. This train has a pair of PC U25C engines #6510 & 6513

Some facts about the GE 25C, courtesy of Wikipedia: The U25C was General Electric's first six-axle road switcher intended for the United States domestic market. Launched in September 1963, it remained in production until December 1965. It was replaced by the U28C. The Pennsylvania Railroad owned 20 with road numbers 6500–6519 which went to Penn Central as road numbers 6500–6519.

Here we see PC Train VW-1 arriving Weehawken...

The train has arrived on track 1, adjacent to PC SD35 #6014 and a pair of AP GP38-2 engines.

At Weehawken, there will be an engine swap. Normally, when a train comes in with PC road power and their crew, both engines and caboose are swapped out. Not today. The crew on caboose #26403 will head over to Rock Ridge, where 1/87th Scale Sir Neal has arranged a tour of the yard with a special lunch at "Meet At Ralph's" Diner, an AP favorite hang out and some good food.

Let's take a look at the engine swap at Weehawken...

The train has left Weehawken as AP Train WR-1, and is on its way to Rock Ridge.

Little Jamaica Tower Operator 1/87th scale Jim holds the train as there's some conversation between him and Rock Ridge Yardmaster 1/87th scale Rich..

Finally, the approach signal is given and they out to Rock Ridge!

The approach begins...

AP Train WR-1 arriving Rock Ridge Freight Yard!

The engines are cut and will head out for servicing...

That concludes the arrival of AP Train WR-1 to Rock Ridge Freight Yard. Tomorrow we'll pick up with the AP yard crew breaking down the train in the yard and classifying the loads to be delivered in and around Rock Ridge.

Don't forget to check out the inbound portions of P.C.C.M. #76 on Sir John's N.Y.C.T.L. and PC Ralph's K.P. & W
