P.C.C.M. #91 Part 2 On The A.P.R.R. - More Outbound Moves And Departure Build

Welcome back to the continuation of Penn Central Car Movement #91 on the APRR! This three layout movement is one of the biggest for the APRR in quite some time, so let's get right into it...

AP 107 has 1:87 Scale NJ John back in the cab working the yard. He's one of 3 senior engineers on the APRR, so having him in the yard works out well...

As you can see the yard will need to have some cars moved from the day before..

AP #105 with 1:87 Scale Engineer Kai working with his trusty conductor Jim will get some more cars spotted in the yard as well...

Freight cars need to be blocked for both railroads, so the work begins..

More moves in the yard..

The tower operator at CP South watches with one of the workers how the moves are going...

One more move in the yard...

Three cars at American Hardware will be next to the last of box cars to be pulled from the siding. American Hardware is based on the perimeter of Rock Ridge Yard. The crew will pull this as well and spot in on the departure track. The 40' Box cars will go to Neal's Lumber with plumbing supplies on the NYCTL and the NYC 40' Hi-Cube box car loaded with hardwre supplies will head to IBM, serviced by the KPD...

Here's John making another yard move...

With most of the yard moves made, they'll start to block the rest of the cars. They'll use 3 departure tracks to handle 31 freight cars. No easy task, but this crew knows what they're doing...

The covered hoppers are moved into place..

AP #106 with 1:87 Scale Engineer Norman on board works the other end of the yard. This is a coordinated move by both engineers..

A number of empty gondolas and ballast cars were sitting in the yard. They'll go to Gervais Pipe in Empire City. Also in the yard are 4 empty APRR ballast cars that will to T&R Gravel. The M&E crew dropped them off in anticipation of a full yard, and wanting to stay out of the way...

More moves are happening. There are some box cars over at Three Amigos that need to be brought over as the prior's day crew didn't have enough time to pick them up, or take a chance of having to outlaw at CP WH (West Harold), so they are going over there today..

The crew ran over to pick up an AP box car destined for All City Storage on the NYCTL...

The train build continues....

There's those ballast cars! They'll get blocked on the NYCTL portion of the train....

These guys are moving cars all over! You think they're getting paid by the car!!

NJ John has this under control...

Spotting the EB box car on the train. The non-player box car will be routed elsewhere...

This build is being worked with precision moves by all three engineers. A testament to the APRR crew..!

What you are seeing now is the build for the outbound train, cars being blocked. They'll block the train with the NYCTL cars starting behind the motive power and the KPD cars on the end. This train will head to West Mill on the KPD where the crew will pull off their cars, add the caboose back to the train and send it on it's way to Selkirk where the PC or NYCTL crew will take over...

Most of the build is completed. However, there are three 40' Hi-Cube Box cars at ShopRite that need to be added to the train that will head to Hostess in Empire City. We can only imagine what they'll be loaded with when they return to ShopRite...!

A live play by play move at ShopRite!

The cars are being added to the train...

We'll stop here for today. Tomorrow we'll finish the outbound portion on my railroad.

Make sure you check out both Sir John's NYCTL Railroad and PC Ralph's KPD Railroad for the latest updates on their outbound and inbound moves..

Thanks for reading!

The trains were really moving this post! My hat's off to the APRR crews for getting so many PCCM cars organized into outbound trains with such efficiency and precision😊. I did enjoy the narrated video and John Sterling had better watch himself. Another fine installment that showcased the Rock Ridge Yard power and crew. Well done!

    West Mill out.

The APRR does have an unusually large amount of work to do this series and is getting it done efficiently! I enjoyed the videos of the switching moves as well, especially the work at ShopRite!
