P.C.C.M. #96 Part 4 - Inbound Train From Selkirk & West Mill Arrive At Rock Ridge

Welcome back to the inbound portion of Penn Central Car Movement #96 on the Atlantic Pacific Railroad. This is a three layout train movement with freight coming in from John's  New York Central Layout and Ralph's Kings Port Division along with my railroad.

The Penn Central dispatched train VW-1 from Selkirk with a stop in West Mill to pick up some cars from the KPD for Rock Ridge. It will head south down the river line, past CP-132, Kingston, Weehawken and head to Rock Ridge Yard. Usually this train ends in Weehawken, but due to congestion at Weehawken, and that the PC owes the AP some motive power time when they used AP engines, this works out just fine.

A trio of U25C engines make up today's motive power consist. Lots of power for this train due the weight of the car loads...

They get the yellow 'approach' signal and proceed thru West Harold...

Train VW-1 leaves West Harold Interlocking on its way to Rock Ridge....

PC Train VW-1 is now being held at Little Jamaica as there's an outbound train leaving Rock Ridge Yard, so they wait....

PC Train VW-1 at Little Jamaica waiting for the signal to proceed into Rock Ridge Yard...

The train finally makes it to Rock Ridge and is greeted by Yardmaster NJ John, and Engineers Mark & Kai who will work to break down the train for tomorrow's crew....

The PC crew, minus the caboose will move out of the north end of the yard to give the AP boys some working room, then when the caboose is ready for them, pick that up and head out....

A little movement please.....

Engine AP MP15 with Mark in the cab is at the ready...

Mark starts to pull cars off the train...

Mark moves the auto parts cars off the west ladder...

Kai gets ready to make more moves with his pair of MP15 engines...

Those PS-2 covered hoppers will find its way to Rock Ridge East yard tomorrow where another AP crew will take them to the engine terminal...

Looks like Kai has been busy dropping cars...

Take a look at those good looking EB and AP reefers. The Patti-O Paint Shop on the N.YC.T.L. did a great job and they look like they came right out of the shop!

Kai spots them as well on one of the A/D (Arrival/Departure) tracks...

Kai wastes no time, drops the cars and is ready for the next move..

Looks like Norman, the Official APRR Photographer has been getting some aerial pics of the yard. How he does it without confiscating the AP Corporate Jet is a mystery...

Last move for Kai is to give the PC crew back their hack (oh that sounds good)!

Kai drops it by CP South Tower for the crew to pick up...

A little headroom by CP South, just in case...

The PC crew picks up the caboose and prepares for departure...

Now at Rock Ridge Yard limits...

The signal to depart is up....

And off they go to Weehawken!

We'll cut it here for today. Tomorrow the AP crews will start to build the trains for local deliveries, of which there are quite a few...

Thanks for reading!

Neal, that was great!!! I absolutely love those U25Cs and hope to see more of them in the future. PC Train VW-1 was a seriously long PCCM train and needed all the power those U-Boats could muster. Thanks for the shout out on the 57' Reefers!!! VW-1 had a large number of Patti O Paint Shop cars and a KP&W Paint Shop car as well. I'm looking forward to part 2 to see what else you have in store for us!

    West Mill out.

While I'm always a big fan of the APRR orange units I thoroughly enjoyed seeing three PC U25Cs on the point of a VW-1 continuing on from Weehawken to Rock Ridge! The APRR and EBRR green reefers are a sight worth pointing out and admiring! Nice pre-drone era aerial shots of Rock Ridge Yard! Whether Norman rents a helicopter or a hot air balloon the shots are worth it! The rhyming thought about getting the hack back is going to stick in my mind for a while. :) Great job managing the inbound PCCM cars on a lengthy train!
