P.C.C.M. #106 On The A.P.R.R. Part 3 - Inbound Freight From West Mill And Terminal Yard

Welcome back to the Inbound portion of P.C.C.M. #106 on the Atlantic Pacific RR. This three layout move has inbound freight from West Mill and Terminal Yard. 

To recap, The APRR sent a TV Train on its inaugural run from Rock Ridge's Reynolds Intermodal Terminal to Selkirk. A block of TOFC cars went to Terminal Yard on the NYCTL and the rest were destined for Chicago and beyond. The APRR sent a manifest train with gondolas to West Mill on the KPD with scrap load to KP Steel. A block of empty gondolas headed to Terminal Yard via Selkirk on the NYCTL to be forwarded to North Side Yard on the LIRR. Some non-PCCM cars that were headed to Selkirk were classified for movements elsewhere...

Today's action starts with AP Manifest Train WR-4 Weehawken to Rock Ridge Yard. A pair of AP GP38-2's with 1:87 Engineer Dan and conductor Matt bringing the train to the yard...



Dan gets the signal from West Harold Tower Operator and proceeds to Rock Ridge Yard...



AP Train WR-4 heads to Rock Ridge Yard....


Dan has arrived at the Rock Ridge Yard Limits and awaits the signal from the Tower Operator at CP Industrial South. The tower operator controls all routing into Rock Ridge Yard and coordinates it with the yardmaster of the day, NJ John!



A quick stop at CP Industrial South for further instructions..


And arrives in the yard on the East Ladder...


AP MP15 #105 will break down the train and spot the cars in the yard. 1:87 Engineer Steve is in the cab to make the moves happen quickly and efficiently...


Steve pulls the caboose and the first cut of reefers from the train...



The cars are spotted on the west ladder track 5...


More reefers are spotted on track 3...


Steve adds the gondolas for Shapeless Steel back on the train. Looks like Dan and Matt are moving again...!


Dan and Matt stop at the yard office for some train orders before they head out...


...And await the signal to proceed to Shapeless Steel. The route will take them on the AP main and will be reverse running. Trains running against normal train traffic are run on train orders and alweays proceed at restricted speeds on the APRR...


Dan and Matt head out...


AP RS-5 heads out to Shapeless Steel...



AP Train RS-5 is being held at West Harold due to oncoming traffic that will take the West Harold secondary...


We see an approach signal for an oncoming Eastbound train...


It's back! The first Penn Central Train TV-10R for Reynolds Intermodal Terminal has arrived from Terminal Yard and Selkirk...

Let's watch the arrival of Penn Central Train TV-10R to Reynolds Intermodal Terminal...


Empire Belt GP40 #8163 with 1:87 Engineer Norman awaits TV10-R to take siding so he can pull the caboose off the end of the train...


AP Train RS-5 has the signal as proceed west to Shapeless Steel as TV10-R has pulled on to the West Harold Secondary track,,,


Meanwhile, Norman pulls the caboose off TV-10R...


AP MP15's #106/107 will shove the intermodal train into the terminal. 1:87 Kai and Mark will make the moves...


We see the yard crew is ready for the arrival of the new inbound train!!


Kai and Mark start spotting the cars...


Meanwhile, Dan and Matt have arrived at Shapeless Steel...


They cut the caboose and proceed to drop the cars from KP Steel along weith some non-PCCM gondolas...


The cars are spotted on track 1...


Dan and Matt pick up the caboose and proceed back to Rock Ridge Yard...


A short time later, Dan and Matt are back in the yard...


Norman adds the caboose back on to PC engine SD45 engine #6206...



The caboose is added to the engine and will head back to Weehawken for servicing and assignment...


Norman will head out after a short break at West Harold Tower...


Norman awaits the signal...


He gets the signal and heads out...


PC Engine #6206 proceeds east from the West Harold secondary track back to Weehawken...


PC SD45 heads out caboose lite...!

P.C.C.M. #106 On The A.P.R.R. Part 2 - A New Yard And A New Train!

Welcome back to the continuation of Penn Central Car Movement #106! Yesterday a pair of trains departed Rock Ridge for Weehawken with gondolas for both N.Y.C.T.L. and K.P.D. railroads...

Today is a special day on the A.P.R.R. as 1:87 Sir Neal along with 1:87 Sir John launch the Grand Opening of the A.P.R.R. Reynolds Intermodal Terminal!! This has been years in the making, and the day has come to open the terminal to it's new commodity - Trailer Trains!!






Today the crew has 1:87 engineers Sir John & Sir Neal on this inaugural move at the terminal. There's 8 flat cars with trailers for Terminal Yard and 7 non-PCCM flat cars with trailers for Selkirk for routing to other destinations...



Sir John is introduced to Tower Operator Bob as they start to pull the cars from the yard and drop them on the West Harold secondary tracks...


More cars are pulled...



The first cut of cars is on West Harold track 2 and the second uct is being dropped on track 1...


We need a caboose and 1:87 Norman picked up the caboose at Weehawken and adds it to the end of the train...


Sir John and Sir Neal have moved over to one of the storage tracks so the PC crew can pick up the train and head out to Weehawken and beyond...


PC U25C 6510 &6513 have the duty of running this train to Weehawken...




Next stop - Weehawken!!


Check back tomorrow for the return of Penn Central TV-10 Trailer Train Selkirk to Weehawken and onto Reynolds Intermodal Terminal as well as the inbound freight from West Mill on the KPD!
