NY-NJ Ops #3 Part 1 - The Start Of Our Outbound Train Moves

Welcome everyone to our THIRD New York New Jersey Ops! We hope you enjoy reading them as much as we enjoy making them. For those of you who are first time readers, Welcome! We move freight cars from my Atlantic Pacific Railroad layout to Sir John's New York Central Train Layout and back via our blog posts. We post our outbound moves the first weekend, followed by our inbound moves the following weekend.

We're at Rock Ridge Yard on a fine summer day and Yardmaster NJ John has Engineer Kai and Engineer Dan along with the yard crew telling the boys what's in store for them today...

First train to work on will be an inbound train from the Penn Central Morrisville, PA Yard with freight for Rock Ridge consignees as well as some thru freight headed to Terminal Yard...

Penn Central Extra 3111 has stopped at Little Jamaica Interlocking and awaits the signal to head directly in to Rock Ridge Yard...

The yellow 'approach' signal is given by Tower Operator Rich and they head in to Rock Ridge Yard...

Dan starts to break down the train. Those lumber loads have come from Georgia Pacific Lumber for Mike's Lumber...

A pair of EL reefers from International Foods will head to ShopRite's large NJ warehouse...

Those LV box cars that came from PA and MI will head to Terminal Yard on an outbound train that has auto parts cars and auto racks. One LV car came from Delco - Flint, MI for Ford in Bedford, NY. The other LV car came from Ball Park Products in Philadelphia, PA to Key Food...

A short time later, they arrive at Little Jamaica Interlocking to get on to the secondary area. Auto Parts cars are the first pull of the day...

An NYC and PRR 86' Auto Parts car will head to Ford in Bedford. The other NYC car will head to the Ford Plant in Wayne, MI...

Kai drops the cars on Rock Ridge East Yard track 1. This yard is not only used as a spill over for the main yard, but stores auto racks for use by the Ford plants in the area. Today 3 empty auto racks will head to the Ford Plant in Bedford, NY...

Kai drops the cars in the yard...

Kai returns to the yard only to find out that he needs to go back to the other yard and drop the LV cars plus a few more auto parts box cars that will head to the Ford plant in Wayne, MI. Routing for this train will be thru Selkirk, NY where the Penn Central has a huge yard. The NYCTL will pick up the cars from Rock Ridge and other destinations and bring them to Terminal Yard...

Dan pulls the LV reefers and the 3 other 86' Auto Parts cars for the outbound train...

Kai heads out again...

A stop at the yard limits...

And he heads out...
