There's been a lot of freight action going on between the other three participants in this series.
The action was intense on Sir John's N.Y.C.T.L., along with the many freight car movements on PC Ralph's K.P. & W., followed by freight coming from the midwest on Brian's RCR Railroad.
We left off with freight leaving Rock Ridge and heading to Selkirk. As train WV-1 was heading to Selkirk, Train WV-2 was coming down the River Line to Weehawken. A little background on the River Line:
The River Line is a rail corridor located between Jersey City, New Jersey and Selkirk, New York, running along the west side of the Hudson Palisades and after passing through a tunnel at Haverstraw, New York, along the west bank of the Hudson River. A parallel track, which was operated as part of the River Line from Jersey City to Weehawken, New Jersey, was known as the Weehawken Branch.
Weehawken Yard is packed and Train WV-2 heads slowly into the yard.
An engine and crew change needs to be made. The engines are cut from the train and moved to an adjacent yard track.
A set of PC locos sitting in Weehawken are backed up to the freight. Air brakes are tested, orders are given, and they'll head out to Rock Ridge as Train WR-2
WR-2 is off to Rock Ridge Yard!
As they approach Harold Interlocking, they have a stop signal.
A couple minutes later, they're given an approach. Normally they get the 'clear' signal. However, due to the amount of freight at Rock Ridge, they're being routed to Rock Ridge so they arrive in the yard from the north.
A slow run thru West Harold Interlocking as they cross over to run left hand running. All manual orders.
As they approach from the north end of the yard, they have the 'green' signal and are ready to approach the yard.
Train WR-2 arriving in Rock Ridge Yard..
Train WR-2 is heading down the west ladder.
The engines are cut and will head to the Richmond Hill Engine Terminal once the train is broken down. They'll take the 2 covered hopper cars loaded with sand from T&R Gravel to be used for engines as they get serviced and refueled.
PC 7675 and 8148 will sit on an east ladder track and await their orders for departure.
That's all for now. Next up - delivering the freight in an around Rock Ridge.
Don't forget to check out the rest of the P.C.C.M. participants. More moves are coming!
