Getting Back To My P.C.C.M. Virtual Operating Sessions - Preparations Have Begun!

Greeting followers of the Atlantic Pacific Railroad and my blog! We're back in the Northern Command (New Jersey) after spending time down at the Southern Command (Florida). I've had a couple of in-person operating sessions since we've been back, and now that I'm going to be participating in the Penn Central Operating Sessions again with Sir John and his New York Central Train Layout, and PC Ralph and his Kings Port Division Model Railroad, I needed to get the layout to look like the Penn Central era as much as possible. That entails moving a number of freight cars out of view...

We start with the auto rack area as it's visible in every photo taken going into and out of Rock Ridge Yard...


Next area is Mike's Lumber. Every train heading west passes it, so those cars have to be moved...


The next photo is by Cargill. While I usually move the modern grain cars out of the way, I decided to move the 17,600 gal. Trinity Corn Syrup tank cars out of the way. Why did I move them? You'll have to wait for P.C.C.M. #91 to find out..


So, where did I move all of the freight cars that needed to be moved? Some were put on stub tracks below the main section of the layout...



Where are the rest of the freight cars that were moved? They went to one area that never gets photographed during our virtual op sessions - THE HELIX!




We're ready to work on P.C.C.M. #91 and get back into the virtual op sessions. Watch for some new moves added to my operating session. I think you'll enjoy them!

  2. You really do have to do a lot of work to change eras for the PCCMs! I appreciate your efforts to "PC" the layout. You've got lots of great staging capacity though! I always admire the helix!
