P.C.C.M. #91 Part 6 On The A.P.R.R. - Outbound Trains Are Dispatched!

Welcome back to the conclusion of P.C.C.M. #91 on the A.P.R.R.! There's a lot of action today, so let's get right to it!!

AP MP15 engines #106 & 107 will work the yard today. 1:87 Scale Senior Engineer NJ John is overseeing the yard today. In the cabs will be 1:87 Scale Engineers Dan and Matt. Alongside NJ John is none other than 1:87 Scale Senior Manager Sir John of Georgia, who happened to come over for the weekend to visit with 1:87 Sir Neal and catch up on some financial matters between the railroads....

A trio of GP38-2 engines that will be working both locals and a manifest train is headed to Rock Ridge Yard...

They have the signal and head to the next interlocking at Little Jamaica..

The engines clear West Harold...

And clear Little Jamaica...

And arrive in Rock Ridge Yard.....

The engines are in the yard and NJ John alongside Sir John of Georgia inspect the engines, and have a chat with the engineer of these engines, 1:87 Scale Engineer Steve who is another senior engineer on the APRR...

The engines are taken out of consist and will be added to the appropriate outbound train...

AP engine #301 is in position and will head out as AP Train RM-3 to Morrisville Yard, PA....

AP engine #307 will work the local and drop cars at Ideal, Freihofer Bakeries, Mike's Lumber and C&P Restaurant Supply as AP Train RIC-4...

AP engine #300 will work Three Amigos Warehouse and Shapeless Steel and head out as AP train RT-2...

Meanwhile, AP #105 needs to move some other cars around within the yard...

There are 2 coal hoppers that are needed for R.M.O. Electric and 6 tank cars for Cargill.

These propane tank cars are 11,000 gallon 50 ton cars from Homgas. Homgas was based in Housatonic, Ma. supplying fuel to a chain of propane customer throughout New England, which today is Amerigas. Other locations were in Hudson Falls, NY, Chester, NY and Housatonic, Ma. These tank cars will serve Cargill on a regular basis as they're adding some new equipment to improve productivity at Cargill...

AP SW1500 #100 will pick up the 8 cars and spot them where needed. 1:87 Scale JP is in the cab...

He waits for the signal...

And heads over to the yard...

Looks like he has the loads, but he's being held in the yard. More than likely he's waiting for the tower operator to make some last minute instructions for the other crews..

Back at CP South, AP Train RM-3 with 1:87 Scale Engineer Bob will take the train down to Morrisville and then head back to the Engine Terminal...

Train RM-3 waits for the signal...

And is ready to head out..

Train RM-3 departs the yard! Next stop...Morrisville!!

Next train dispatched at CP South, AP Train RT-2 prepares to head out for the day...

Followed behind AP Train RIC-4...

The trains await the signal from the tower operator at Little Jamaica who will have his hands full sending out these trains...

The trains have their signals and head out....

Let's watch the locals depart the yard....

We turn our attention back in the yard over at CP Rock. AP #100 will bring the cars over to both Cargill and R.M.O. Electric..

A short run around the secondary has the cars ready to be dropped...

A few cars are dropped on tank car track 3...

...And a couple more on tank car track 4...

And now the 2 coal hopper cars ar dropped on track 4 at the power plant...

Now we turn our attention back to the local action...

AP #307 starts to spot cars along the route. First spot is Ideal Auto Parts with an LV box car from Delco Batteries on the KPD with...Batteries!!

Next drop are cars for Freihofer Bakeries  The covered hopper from Red Wing Bakeries in Empire City and the HRC 50' 'Box Car from Canton Box with cardboard boxes for those wonderful Freihofer Cookies... YUMMY!

The crew does a quick run around so they can shove the remaining cars...

They'll drop C&P first then drop the TPIX car at Mike's Lumber...

A shove of  the HRC 40' Box car from Reynolds Beverages and the PC Box car from Canton Box make this move quickly...

And the last car on RIC-4 is spotted at Mike's Lumber which came down from Triangle Pacific with some fresh pre-cut lumber...

AP Engine #307 has finished his deliveries and will wait for routing back to Rock Ridge Yard...

What's this? The boys from the Kings Port Railfan Society back at West Harold? Looks like the tower operator has some followers..

Three Amigos Warehouse has 4 cars being dropped off.  A 40' Hi Cube from Peerless Appliances, a pair of KP&W box cars from Peerless Appliances and a PC Box car from IBM with business machines..

AP #300 shoving the loaded box cars on to Three Amigos track 2..

Here we see the crew drop the gondolas at Shapeless Steel...

Now that all of the local freight has been delivered, we can see the engines heading back to the yard....

The engines and crew are back in the yard and the evening crew will take care of the engines, getting them to the engine terminal if they need servicing....

That concludes the inbound portion of P.C.C.M. #91 on my railroad.

Be sure to check out Sir John's N.Y.C.T.L. Railroad and PC Ralph's Kings Port Division Railroad for their inbound action!

Thanks for reading and stop back often for more Penn Central Car Movements and updates to the railroad!

A record setting number of freight cars forwarded, handled and delivered!!! Very well done Sir Neal!!! The GP38-2 light engines move to Rock Ridge was a very nice treat!! The towermen and dispatcher once again earned their keep in keeping the many car movements fluid and the all important Rock Ridge Yard from becoming clogged. Hats off to the yard and road crews who handled all of this traffic safely and efficiently. 1:87 John will be presenting a glowing report at the next board of directors meeting! Little Jamaica and West Harold were great places to railfan today!! Good to see the RR grapevine reached the KPRS gang who were on hand to record the action. I liked the Homgas tank car move and explanation. An excellent closing installment!!!!

    West Mill out.

The GP38-2s looked and sounded great on their light run to Rock Ridge! I liked the staging of the three trains ready to roll! The Homgas cars are neat looking cars and I appreciated the background info about them. They make an interesting additional op at Cargill. Are they new acquisitions? I know you had an unusually high number of cars to deal with in this series but Rock Ridge handled all of the traffic beautifully with its local trains and switcher runs. The Kings Port Railfan Society's blue and white VW is logging a lot of miles north and south of Kings Port to catch all of the great train action in PCCM 91! Very nice wrap up of the series on the APRR!
