P.C.C.M. #102 Part 4 On The A.P. R.R. - The Inbound Train From Selkirk And Weehawken Arrives At Rock Ridge Yard

Welcome back to the inbound part of Penn Central Car Movement #102! It's another three layout move featuring  Sir John's N.Y.C.T.L. Railroad and PC Ralph's Kings Port & Western Railroad as well as my Atlantic Pacific Railroad...

We start out at the center of the action - Rock Ridge Yard. The AP MP15's are ready as the inbound train is headed towards Rock Ridge. They left Weehawken after dropping off some freight cars to be handed off to the NYS&W Railroad and have 18 freight cars for the APRR...

We see a Penn Central train waiting for the signal to approach the Little Jamaica Interlocking before heading to Rock Ridge Yard

They have the approach as they have to cross over from the PC tracks to the APRR tracks...

Here we see Penn Central Extra 1650 approaching Rock Ridge...

A stop at SI Tower and the crew is greeted by tower operator Rich T...

And the train slowly makes its way up the ladder in Rock Ridge Yard...

We see that the yard crew has positioned themselves to work the train from the south side of the yard. Yardmaster NJ John has this down to a science with his many years working the railroad...

Penn Central Extra 1650, an F7 A-B-A consist has plenty of motive power for this run...

They pull up a little to CP Rock and await departure orders...

Another look at this massive train...

Dan and Matt waste no time and start to break down the train...

They'll work to block the cars based on what part of the area they head to. The gondolas will head to Shapeless Steel, north of Rock Ridge. The drew knows there are reefers on this train, so they will add them to the gondolas as C&P Restaurant Supply is north of Rock Ridge...

The Morton Salt car from Ronzoni on the the NYCTL will head to the Morton Salt plant in Rock Ridge for a refill. The Cargill hopper from Hostess on the NYCTL will head to Cargill and will be loaded for a return trip back to Hostess...

The PC box car from Berk Industries on the NYCTL will be dropped off adjacent to Morton Salt with labels and will head out to the repackaging plant for future use. TPFX 5510 from British Columbia via the KPD/KP&W will head to Mikes Lumber...

The cars from the Ford Plant in Somerville, MA via the KPD/KP&W will head over to Ideal Auto Parts to be loaded with electronics...

The yard still has plenty of room to handle more, but the tracks on the right will be used to build the outbound locals. A train for the north side of Rock Ridge and the East Side of Rock Ridge...

NJ John has the yard organized to make it easy for the crews to send out freight...

Now that the yard is taken care of, NJ John sends out Penn Central Train 1650 caboose lite...

The PC crew await the signal...

And they head out...

Penn Central Engine 1650 heads out to the Richmond Hill Engine Terminal for servicing before heading back to Weehawken for assignment...

Now that Penn Central 1650 has cleared West Harold, Penn Central train TV-9 can head thru the interlocking...

That's all for today. Tomorrow the yard crew will start to send out the freight to the local industries in and around Rock Ridge.

Don't forget to check out to see the freight cars I sent to both John's N.Y.C.T.L. Railroad and Ralph's Kings Port & Western Railroad.

Thanks for reading!

    Terminal Yard out...

TV9 is my new favorite TOFC train!!!! Thanks for the close up of it heading thru West Harold. Extra 1650 delivered the 18 PCCM cars in style and the sound equipped A-B-A- set is becoming the envy of the virtual ops!!! The Rock Ridge Yard crew has everything organized for the road crews to make their next moves and I'm looking forward to seeing that in the next installment. Well done Sir Neal!!!
