Today we're sending out a couple of teams to deliver and pick up freight from C&P Restaurant Supply and Three Amigos Warehouse. There's a manifest train that the AP crew picked up at Bound Brook NJ, and interchanged for the LV, EL and the AP...
AP Extra 302 East with a GP38-2 has 1:87 Engineer Mark with Conductor Jim W. on the hind end with a string of non-VO freight cars. The reefers have come from Bell & Evans Poultry in Fredericksburg, PA along with some other freight cars. Mark waits for the signal...
...And proceeds to Little Jamaica, the next interlocking before heading into Rock Ridge Yard...
Mark has breezed thru Little Jamaica and now awaits the signal to get into Rock Ridge Yard. CP South tower operator 1:87 Rich T. will route Mark and his train into the yard...
Rich routes Mark and his train into Rock Ridge Yard thru CP Rock, the northern end of the yard. This gives the crew easy access to the West Ladder tracks where 1:87 Yardmaster NJ John and his yard crew will take over...
Mark arrives back in the yard...
The crew cuts the caboose from the train...
Mark drops some cars on West Ladder tracks 7 & 9...
Meanwhile, GP38-2 #300 is revving up on East Ladder track 2...
AP GP38-2 #300 will be heading out to C&P Restaurant Supply with the reefers that came in earlier today. In the seat today is 1:87 Engineer Steve W. and his conductor Norman, our trusty official APRR photographer. NJ John told him to put down the camera and get on the train with Steve!
Rich T. dispatches the crew as AP Train RC-5 to C&P Restaurant Supply...
AP Train RC-5 heads to C&P to pick up cars and drop off some cars from an earlier inbound train...
A short time later Steve and Norman arrive at C&P Restaurant Supply. Before they drop their reefers, they need to pull the cars that will head to Terminal Yard and other locations served by both railroads...
Those AP & EB 57' reefers in dark green will head to Pilgrim State Hospital on Long Island via Terminal Yard and North Side Yard. The orange PFE reefers will head out empty to Bell & Evans...
Steve and Norman drop the non-VO reefers on track 1...
The trio of B&M box cars will head to Nassau Community College on Long Island with cafeteria supplies. Take it from 1:87 Sir Neal, the food in the cafeteria at NCC is something that is one and done. Everything you eat needs Ketchup!! HA!
Train RC-5 heads back to Rock Ridge Yard...
Steve and Norman arrive back in the yard...
The AP & EB reefers are dropped on West Ladder track 11...
The rest of the box cars are dropped on A/D track 'A'...
Meanwhile the pair of AP MP15 engines are getting fired up to make a run to Three Amigos Warehouse to drop off those Hi-Cube box cars and pick up some freight that will head out to locations beyond New Jersey. 1:87 Engineer Kai and conductor Jim W. get ready to head out...
Kai checks in with Rich T for routing...
AP's Little Jamaica Tower operator controls the departure signals out of Rock Ridge Yard. Kai waits for the signal...
...And a few minutes later heads out...
Train RT-4 heads out to work their local job...
A short time later Kai and Jim arrive at the West Harold secondary track and has a quick conversation with WH tower operator Bob for instructions. Kai has a string of those Hi-Cubes to drop. First, they need to pull the box cars off track 1 before shoving in his cars...
Kai pulls the string off track 1 and drops them on the secondary track. There are two tracks here, perfect for a run around and the shove...
Kai pulls out the cars. That LV box car will head out empty to the LV Allentown, PA yard for assignment...
Kai spotting cars at Three Amigos Warehouse...
Kai puts the caboose into position...
Now shoves the outbound cars back to pick up the caboose and head back to the yard...
Kai and Jim return to Rock Ridge Yard...
Kai checks back in with Rich at CP South Tower...
We now have AP SW1500 #101 with Engineer Jim C. working the yard. Jim will pull the caboose off Kai's train so he can spot the cars...
Kai and Jim work quickly! They're finished and get ready to tie down!
We'll cut it here for today. Tomorrow the Rock Ridge Yard crew will start sending out freight to Terminal Yard and the NYCTL and make room for more inbound freight!

The guys were firing on all cylinders today!!! Team work, safety and efficiency were all on display. However, Kai did get an excess track speed letter that he will have to answer for once the BLET rep shows up. Can't fault an employee who is eager to get his work done! Another very enjoyable look at the NY-NJ Ops taking place in New Jersey. Well done.
