NYNJ #5 Part 2 - Freight Continues To Move In And Around Rock Ridge

Welcome back to the continuation of our NYNJ Ops #5!

Today the Rock Ridge Yard crew will work Mike's Lumber, C&P Restaurant Supply, Marcal, Three Amigos Warehouse, Shapeless Steel as well as some moves within Rock Ridge Yard...

Yardmaster NJ John goes over the work with Engineers Kai and Jim C.

AP GP38-2 #300 arrives at CP Rock, the north end of the yard. Engineer Mark will handle Mike's Lumber and C&P Restaurant Supply...

A number on non-NYNJ cars will head out to be spotted at C&P and Mike's Lumber...

Mark has his caboose and is ready to depart...

CP South Tower Operator Rich gives Mark his train orders and heads out as train RN-39...

Mark heads out  as he has the signal to depart Rock Ridge. His first stop will be Mike's Lumber...

Train RN-39 on the move...

The trio of PC RBL box cars will be delivered to University Lumber in Empire City with plywood veneers...

Mark will drop off a few non-NNYNJ freight for the lumber yard...

Next stop is C&P Restaurant Supply. Nine cars are going to be pulled. The 4 TP&W box cars have supplies for Nassau Community College on Long Island. The PC crew will hand off these cars to the EBRR crew at North Side Yard for their final delivery...

Mark drops off some cars and pulls the cars for the NYCTL. A pair of AP 40' box cars will be delivered to Best Wholesale loaded with restaurant supplies.

The BAR reefers are loaded with frozen food. BAR 11128 will head to Key Food and BAR 7574 will go to Pilgrim State Hospital. The HRC Box car will head to Lanier Bros. in Atlanta via the next train to Allentown...

Mark has all the freight on his manifest and heads back to Rock Ridge Yard...

Train RN-39 returns to Rock Ridge Yard...

A short time later, Mark's back to the Rock Ridge Yard approach tracks...

...And Rich routes him in...

Marks job is completed and Kai and Jim C. will take over breaking down RN-39...

The guys need to make more room in the yard. There's another inbound train coming in soon, so the 4 reefers from Bell & Evans need to be delivered to ShopRite...

Now there's more room in the yard...!

Mark takes his engine and heads out to Richmond Hill Engine Terminal for servicing. Engine Hostler Norman awaits Marks arrival...

Next stop - Richmond Hill Engine Terminal!!

The next engine arrives at Rock Ridge Yard. AP GP38-2 #303 with Jim W. will work Three Amigos and Shapeless Steel. Two cars at Three Amigos will head to Gertz Department Store with seasonal Supplies. Over at Shapeless Steel, 4 bulkhead flat cars loaded with steel slabs will head to Mid Island Steel...

Jim will drop 4 non-NYNJ empty coil cars at Shapeless Steel...

Jim heads out as train RW-24...

A short time later, Jim arrives at West Harold Interlocking. Tower Operator Bob greets Jim and tells him to go and 'Do his thing' as only Jim knows how to do...

The PC Box cars are pulled...

Jim adds them to the back of the train and heads over to Shapeless Steel...

At Shapeless Steel, we see the 4 bulkhead flat cars on track 1.. Jim will pull these cars, then drop the 4 non-NYNJ coil cars...

Jim is ready to go and heads back to Rock Ridge Yard...

Jim heads back to the yard...

Jim checks in with Rich...

And is routed up the east ladder. NJ John greets Jim as he was out a good part of the day...

Jim heads out to the engine terminal and will hand off his engine and caboose to Norman for servicing...

Inbound freight from Three Amigos and Shapeless Steel gets dropped on the A/D yard tracks...

ACFX Morton Salt covered hopper gets pulled from Morton Salt for Stella D'Oro in the Bronx...

Kai and Jim C. work this one car as Morton Salt is located off the east ladder and the car needs to go on the A/D tracks on the west ladder, hence 2 engines...

The guys are finished and tie down...

We'll cut it here for today. Tomorrow the crews will work on the freight for from Ideal and Rock Ridge East  yard for the Ford Plant in Bedford and start to send out freight to Terminal Yard, Allentown and points beyond...

Don't forget to check out the outbound portion of Sir John's New York Central Train Layout and see all the action!!
