P.C.C.M. #91 Part 2 On The A.P.R.R. - More Outbound Moves And Departure Build

Welcome back to the continuation of Penn Central Car Movement #91 on the APRR! This three layout movement is one of the biggest for the APRR in quite some time, so let's get right into it...

AP 107 has 1:87 Scale NJ John back in the cab working the yard. He's one of 3 senior engineers on the APRR, so having him in the yard works out well...

As you can see the yard will need to have some cars moved from the day before..

AP #105 with 1:87 Scale Engineer Kai working with his trusty conductor Jim will get some more cars spotted in the yard as well...

Freight cars need to be blocked for both railroads, so the work begins..

More moves in the yard..

The tower operator at CP South watches with one of the workers how the moves are going...

One more move in the yard...

Three cars at American Hardware will be next to the last of box cars to be pulled from the siding. American Hardware is based on the perimeter of Rock Ridge Yard. The crew will pull this as well and spot in on the departure track. The 40' Box cars will go to Neal's Lumber with plumbing supplies on the NYCTL and the NYC 40' Hi-Cube box car loaded with hardwre supplies will head to IBM, serviced by the KPD...

Here's John making another yard move...

With most of the yard moves made, they'll start to block the rest of the cars. They'll use 3 departure tracks to handle 31 freight cars. No easy task, but this crew knows what they're doing...

The covered hoppers are moved into place..

AP #106 with 1:87 Scale Engineer Norman on board works the other end of the yard. This is a coordinated move by both engineers..

A number of empty gondolas and ballast cars were sitting in the yard. They'll go to Gervais Pipe in Empire City. Also in the yard are 4 empty APRR ballast cars that will to T&R Gravel. The M&E crew dropped them off in anticipation of a full yard, and wanting to stay out of the way...

More moves are happening. There are some box cars over at Three Amigos that need to be brought over as the prior's day crew didn't have enough time to pick them up, or take a chance of having to outlaw at CP WH (West Harold), so they are going over there today..

The crew ran over to pick up an AP box car destined for All City Storage on the NYCTL...

The train build continues....

There's those ballast cars! They'll get blocked on the NYCTL portion of the train....

These guys are moving cars all over! You think they're getting paid by the car!!

NJ John has this under control...

Spotting the EB box car on the train. The non-player box car will be routed elsewhere...

This build is being worked with precision moves by all three engineers. A testament to the APRR crew..!

What you are seeing now is the build for the outbound train, cars being blocked. They'll block the train with the NYCTL cars starting behind the motive power and the KPD cars on the end. This train will head to West Mill on the KPD where the crew will pull off their cars, add the caboose back to the train and send it on it's way to Selkirk where the PC or NYCTL crew will take over...

Most of the build is completed. However, there are three 40' Hi-Cube Box cars at ShopRite that need to be added to the train that will head to Hostess in Empire City. We can only imagine what they'll be loaded with when they return to ShopRite...!

A live play by play move at ShopRite!

The cars are being added to the train...

We'll stop here for today. Tomorrow we'll finish the outbound portion on my railroad.

Make sure you check out both Sir John's NYCTL Railroad and PC Ralph's KPD Railroad for the latest updates on their outbound and inbound moves..

P.C.C.M. #91 Part 1 On The A.P.R.R. - Freight Cars For The N.Y.C.T.L. & K.P.D. Are Gathered At Rock Ridge Yard

Welcome to another Penn Central Car Movement on the Atlantic Pacific Railroad! We're excited to participate in this three layout virtual op session. My last session was in December last year, so needless to say, there are many freight cars that need to be sent out, and of course, many coming in. While I was not available, Sir John and his Incredible N.Y.C.T.L. Railroad along with PC Ralph and his Highly Detailed K.P.D. Railroad continued on with a number of train movements.

(Authors Note: Apologies to those who may see some of the images out of focus. I'm using a new camera instead of my cell phone camera. I'll need to address this after posting this P.C.C.M. series)

P.C.C.M. #91 will have one of the largest outbound trains heading out. There are 7 freight cars heading to the K.P.D. and 24 freight cars to the N.Y.C.T.L.! So let's begin!!

Rock Ridge Yard is going to be very busy today. All 3 MP15 engines will be making moves in and around Rock Ridge Yard. AP #105 will be manned with 1:87 Scale Engineer Norman in the seat. His duties today involve a run to Ideal Auto Parts, Marcal and Freihofers Bakeries. Knowing Norman, he may make a longer stop at Freihofers to get some goodies (Chocolate Chip Cookies to be exact)..

AP #107 will have 1:87 Scale NJ John working the yard, making some moves as needed...

AP #106 has 1:87 Scale Matt working the yard as well. He's back from Tennessee for a while, and he's ready to go!

AP 105 picks up a caboose to protect the train on his moves....

Arriving at CP Rock is GP38-2 #303 with 1:87 Scale Dan as engineer. His train will head out to pick up outbound cars at Mike's Lumber, C&P Restaurant Supply and Shapeless Steel...

The crews are headed out..

AP 105 waits for his signal...

...And he heads out of Rock Ridge Yard...

A red signal has him held by the Little Jamaica Dispatcher...

...And his approach signal is given, and they're on their way...

The crew gets right to work. First stop is Ideal Auto Parts. A pair of KP&W Box cars are picked up and will head back to Zenith TV on the KPD. No, TV's were not delivered to Ideal, as thses box cars are multi-use freight cars. A trio of AP & EB box cars loaded with auto parts will head to the Ford Plant in Empire City on the NYCTL...

Next move is to pick up an EB box car from Marcal with paper goods that will head to Ralph's Grocery on the NYCTL..

They'll pick up a non-player in my virtual op moves as that car is destined for another location..

Over at Freihofers, a pair of freight cars will be picked up. The EL reefer will head to Ralph's Grocery with baked goods, and the LV box car will go to Pilgrim State on the NYCTL..

Let's watch on the moves AP 105 worked during his run...

Meanwhile, AP #303 gets some final train orders from the CP South Tower Operator before he heads out..

AP 303 is being held as AP 105 is returning to the yard..

AP #303 is on his way to pick up some freight cars at Shapeless Steel, C&P Restaurant Supply and Mike's Lumber..

A quick look at first inbound at Rock Ridge Yard. The yard crew has their work cut out for them..

AP #303 makes a stop at CP LJ (Little Jamaica) for instructions on what cars to get and which ones get pulled first..

Looks like Dan is at Mike's Lumber. He's picking up a trio of PC box cars fill of wooden shipping crates destined for IBM on the KPD...

Next stop is C&P Restaurant Supply with prepared meals heading to Pilgrim State on the NYCTL. Freight Cars headed to Pilgrim State go to Terminal Yard and then transferred to the LIRR Local to deliver to its destination...

The final pickup over at Shapeless Steel is a lone NYC box car with steel banding heading to Port Owen Brick on the KPD...

They grab the car and get ready to head out...

The tower operator requested they pick up C&P last as they had some last minute loading to do..

Let's watch a move by 1:87 Scale Dan out on the road..

And they return to the yard...

Dan and his train are back in the yard rolling past CP South...

AP 106 gets ready to pick up some grain cars over at Cargill..

He clears CP Rock...

And holds by Cargill...

AP #100 with 1:87 Scale JP at the throttle pulls 4 covered hopper cars from Cargill and will hand them off to Matt..

A trio of AP covered hopper cars will head to Empire City Cargill with Barley and the colorful Hostess covered hopper will head over to Hostess with flour in Empire City...

Matt grabs the cars and heads back to the yard. No caboose was needed since the secondary track is within the Rock Ridge Yard limits...

JP heads back to Cargill..

Matt enters the yard at CP Rock..

We'll cut it here for today. Tomorrow we'll pick it up with more outbound moves within Rock Ridge Yard and start to build the outbound trains...

Make sure you check out both Sir John and his Incredible N.Y.C.T.L. Railroad and PC Ralph and his Highly Detailed K.P.D. Railroad for their moves in P.C.C.M. #91 and more!
