Today's engineers in AP MP15's 106/107 is 1:87 Dan, who will work the yard. Dan is one of the youngest engineers on the railroad, yet knows what to do. Besides, his uncle is 1:87 Sir Neal!!
That Swift reefer came to C&P Restaurant Supply loaded with some tasty meats. Hope it comes back on the next trip loaded with some bacon!!
AP GP38-2 #300 is going to work Ideal Auto Parts, Marcal and Freihofer Bakeries. 1:87 engineer Mark will work the job with his brakeman Jim...
While Mark will pick up some freight, he'll be dropping off some non-PCCM cars as well...
Mark checks in with tower operator Rich...
...And continues to get ready to head out...
AP train RE-2 will depart Rock Ridge for industries on the east side of the city...
RE-2 slowly heads out as his first stop is Ideal Auto Parts...
A pair of empty KP&W box cars will be returned to the KPD and forwarded to Zenith TV...
And a few 60' auto parts box cars are dropped off...
The next stops will be at Marcal and Freihofer. The Weyerhauser box cars from Mike's Lumber were loaded with pallets for Marcal. The Nestle cars will get spotted at Freihofers. You can't have chocolate chip cookies without some chocolate chips, right?
The moves continue...
A pair of AP box cars and the TP&W box car from Freihofer will head to Pilgrim State Hospital on Long Island. NYCTL's Terminal Yard will hand them off to the LIRR for their final destination...
A couple of more moves to get the train back together...
A quick run around...
A few more moves...
Mark is still working these moves. Must be some additional traffic as he's running around some other trains?
Okay, so new we see what he's up to...
There's a short runaround track by Marcal and Freihofer that's seldom used for moves. It's mostly used for dropping cars to be moved when multiple box cars are needed for Marcal...
The outbound cars are picked up and inbounds for those industries have been delivered. Now it's time to head back to the yard...
Meanwhile, a pair of PC GP40 engines assigned to shuttle cars between the Ford Plant in Mahwah, NJ and Rock Ridge East Yard...
PC GP40 engines # 3166 & 3182 are getting ready to drop off a string of auto racks to the Ford Plant...
At West Harold tower, the crew checks in with tower operator Bob for orders...
Let's watch PC Extra 3166 head out...
Now that Extra PC 3166 has cleared, AP 300 can head back to the yard...
Here he goes...
Over at West Harold, AP train WRE-1, the weekly tank car train for Cargill, will head over to Rock Ridge East Yard for storage until needed...
AP 300 is finally back in the yard. I'm sure NJ John will discuss the moves he made today and the time spent making them. Not a conversation we want to hear...
Mark cuts the engine from the train so the yard crew can break it down...
AP 300 is out of the yard and will head down to the engine terminal for servicing...
Nest stop, Richmond Hill Engine Terminal...
Meanwhile, Dan and the yard crew start to break down and classify the inbound cars. Inbound freight never comes in by final destination, so they break them down in the best way possible...
Not forgotten, AP train WRE-1 has the signal at West Harold and will head to the West Harold secondary so he can back into Rock Ridge East Yard...
Mission accomplished! The Rock Ridge Yard crew will pick up the tank cars as needed for Cargill. Empties will be returned about a week later...
We'll cut it here for today. Tomorrow the crews will work on the outbound train for Kings Port and West Mill.
Don't forget to check out the outbound moves on Sir John's New York Central Train Layout and PC Ralph's Kings Port Division Railroads.
Thanks for reading!!
