P.C.C.M. #101 Part 5 On The A.P.R.R. - Inbound Train From Selkirk To Rock Ridge Yard

Welcome to the inbound portion of Penn Central Car Movement #101. The A.P.R.R. has freight coming in to Rock Ridge Yard from Sir John's amazing New York Central Train Layout and PC Ralph's incredible Kings Port Division Railroad. Additional freight will be arriving from other destinations serviced by the A.P.R.R.

Today we start out in Rock Ridge Yard. Yardmaster 1:87 NJ John is busy at work assigning crews for today's jobs. 1:87 Engineer Kai will handle the pair of AP MP15 engines.

What's this? The KPRS bug has been spotted across the road from the north end of Rock Ridge Yard! Wonder why they're here? Maybe they know something we don't?

Look what we have here! Penn Central SW1500 #9543 is on loan to the A.P.R.R. as some of their yard engines are being serviced and will be out of commission for a while. The crew at Rock Ridge takes a look at this engine. Now they wonder who will be in the cab to run it as there are only a handful or engineers on the AP roster who are qualified...

Meanwhile, Penn Central Train VW-1 from Selkirk awaits the signal to head to Rock Ridge Yard...

The signal has them on an approach, so they'll be on their way...

Train VW-1 approaching Rock Ridge Yard Limits...

VW-1 has arrived in Rock Ridge on the north side of the yard. The boys remember seeing these engines a week ago when it departed for Weehawken and points beyond...

The engines are cut from the train and they'll head out for servicing by the AP Engine Terminal before returning to Weehawken, their home base...

The crew checks in, or should we say, checks out of Rock Ridge Yard before heading for servicing at the APRR Richmond Hill Engine Terminal. They'll be holding here for a while as they have to wait for the caboose to be added to the consist...

As we take a look in the yard, We see a number of loaded coal hoppers sitting on the east ladder...

The cars are moved so they can head out later...

Kai works the breakdown of this train. Some gondolas with pipes from Gervais Pipe located in Empire City on the N.Y.C.T.L....

A couple of box cars arrived from Canton Box on the K.P.D. The PC box car will head to C&P Restaurant Supply and the Orange HRC box car will get dropped at Freihofers; both hav packaging material...

Some PC covered hoppers from Pier 16 Silos on the NYCTL will head over to Cargill loaded with grain...

A trio of PC RBL box cars from Bruce Electric will had over to Ideal Auto Parts with electrical components...

The PC SW1500 starts to work the yard. 1:87 Engineer JP will handle this, since he's one of the few qualified to work this class of engine...

The AP and EB reefers from Birdseye Foods will head to C&P Restaurant Supply with frozen foods...

Kai is making more moves around the yard...

The EB covered hoppers and the NYC covered hopper came from Red Wing Milling with flour to be forwarded to Freihofer Bakeries...

JP likes working this engine...

Kai keeps moving cars around the yard so they can go out in blocks...

Now that the cars off the train are classified in the yard, the caboose can be added back on to the engines heading to the engine terminal...

JP dropped the caboose and the PC crew will get ready to depart...

JP is back in the yard along with Kai on East ladder track 2...

...And PC 1650 will head to the engine terminal for servicing before returning to Weehawken...

PC 1650 heads to the engine terminal...

The yard is quite full, and the crew will start to move some freight out of the yard....

Kai once again is ready to work the yard...

JP moved the engine as some GP38-2 engines have arrived in the yard to work the locals...

AP 303 & 307 are on track 2 waiting assignments...

Kai stopped in to see what other moves need to be made....

The covered hoppers are being pulled for Cargill...

AP SW1500 #100 heads over to pick up the cars for Cargill and an empty Tropicana reefer from A&P Grocery in Empire City to pick up more juice at the Tropicana Plant. JP is back in this engine. No rest for the weary...! JP will head out as Train RR-7...

Once he gets the signal, he'll head out...

The reefer gets dropped....

And now the covered hoppers are dropped...

Now he's back to get the coal hoppers which came from Hudson Coal in Empire City...

JP picks them up...

He waits for the signal...

And starts to slowly head out with an 8 car coal drag....

JP drops the cars at R.M.O. Electric...

JP is finished for the day and so is the crew at Rock Ridge Yard...

We'll cut it here for today. Tomorrow the crew will build the train that will head out to the industries on the north side of Rock Ridge including, Shapeless Steel and C&P Restaurant Supply...

Dont forget to check out the inbound moves on Sir John's New York Central Train Layout and PC Ralph's Kings Port Division Railroad

    Terminal Yard out...

Plenty of Penn Central eye candy today and the KPRS was on hand to see it all!! The F7 A-B-A lash up was great to see brining in Train VW-1 which was very healthy with PCCM traffic. The PC 9543 is another fine locomotive in your PC stable. Seeing both was well worth the drive from Kings Port!!! Nice job getting VW-1 yarded, broken down and getting the PCCM cars moving!! Looking forward to tomorrow's installment!!!
