P.C.C.M. #102 Part 2 - Preparing The Outbound Train

Welcome back to the continuation of Penn Central Car Movement #102! The crews will start to work the cars for the outbound train. Both railroads have given the APRR instructions on how they would like the cars blocked so the freight can move quickly...

Engineers Matt and Dan are sitting in AP MP15 engines #106 & 107 ready to start blocking the outbound cars...

The BN & UP reefers(making their first of many PCCM debut) are the first to get blocked for the NYCTL part of the outbound train...

Inbound moves for the NYCTL...

The next set of TP&W box cars are going to the NYCTL behind the first 3 reefers...

AP MP15 #105 has Mark working the yard as well...

As you can see, the crews work in tandem to get the cars spotted...

Here's the crew spotting the cars for both NYCTL and KPD railroads...

We now turn our attention to the north side of Rock Ridge over at WH tower, where EB GP40 #8163 (on long term lease from the NYCTL), has 4 PS-2 hoppers that will go to T&R Gravel to be filled with sand for the APRR engines. Engineer Norman has brought the cars from the engine terminal and will drop them over in Rock Ridge East yard...

The train slowly backs into track 3 at Rock Ridge East Yard as tracks 1 & 2 have the weekly move for auto racks to the Ford Plant at Mahwah, NJ...

Norman drops the cars on track 3....

Now that Norman has tied down, the M&E crew of Engineer Steve and brakeman Bob will take the auto rack cars over to the Ford Plant...

Steve and Bob now head out as M&E Extra 1819...

Now that the M&E crew is gone, Norman can head back to the engine terminal...

Back at the main yard, the crew continue to build the outbound train. Three auto parts box cars from Ideal will head to the KPD then transferred on the run to the Ford Plant in Massachusetts...

The lone coal hopper car will be added to the KPD block as well...

And lets not forget the PC box car for Cavendish Foods for the KPD...

Matt and Dan are finished with their moves as well as Mark. The crews tie down for the day...

We'll cut it here for today. Tomorrow the yard crew will assemble the outbound train for an ON TIME departure!!

Don't forget to follow the outbound part of this series on Sir John's amazing New York Central Layout and PC Ralph's Incredible Kings Port Division railroads.

    Terminal Yard out...

Another fine installment showing well choreographed switching movements between the two yard crews working Rock Ridge Yard. Always a pleasure to see EBRR 8163 and caboose making a PCCM move. The M&E auto rack train is becoming a favorite!!! Nicely done Sir Neal!!!
