P.C.C.M. #105 On The A.P.R.R. - Outbound To The N.Y.C.T.L. & K.P.D. Railroads

Welcome to another Penn Central Car Movement on the Atlantic Pacific Railroad! This is #105 in our ongoing series and is a one weekend series with outbound freight leaving Rock Ridge Yard for Sir John's N.Y.C.T.L. Railroad and PC Ralph's K.P.D. Railroad...

Today's action will send covered hoppers, coal hoppers and PS-2 covered hoppers to the NYCTL. Empty coal hoppers will head up to West Mill on the KPD and get forwarded to the Lehigh Valley Connection for more coal.

We start over at Cargill and a string of 6 covered hoppers will head to the Pier 16 Silos on the NYCTL...

A string of empty coal hoppers will head to Hudson Coal. While the warm weather is approaching, the APRR is starting its build for the upcoming winter season.

AP SW1500 #100 drops the cars off at Rock Ridge Yard for the outbound train to the NYCTL...

While AP #100 is back on the Rock Ridge Industrial Complex, the crew won't sit there for long...

Meanwhile, over at CP Industrial South, EBRR #8163 is dropping off 4 PS-2 covered hoppers for T&R Gravel to be loaded with sand for the APRR's engine terminal...

The crew heads back to the engine terminal...

APRR #100 is at it again! This time pulling more coal hoppers that will head to West Mill on the KPD...

These cars are dropped at the Rock Ridge East Yard for their outbound journey. The motive power are a pair of GP40 Penn Central units...

AP #100 is back in the yard...

The crew for this train will take the freight to Weehawken where it will be added to PC Train WV-2 and head up to Selkirk, with a stop in West Mill...

Over at Rock Ridge Yard, another pair of GP40 engines are getting ready for its departure to Selkirk and on to Terminal Yard on the NYCTL...

The PRR caboose is added to the train...

PC Extra 3175 awaits the signal to depart Rock Ridge Yard at CP Rock, the northern end of the yard...

The signal is up, and they slowly head out....

A quick stop at CP Industrial South for final train orders...

The crew awaits the signal as PC Extra 3166 is getting ready to depart at Rock Ridge East Yard...

The crew has the signal, and gets ready to depart...

Next stop will be Weehawken for PC Extra 3166 and on to West Mill and Selkirk. PC Extra 3175 will stop at Selkirk for a crew change before heading out to Terminal Yard...

Here we go...!!

Check back in the next couple days for the inbound portion of P.C.C.M. #105!!

Our all-hopper theme for this op certainly provided a of of rail action at Rock Ridge! It was a pleasure to observe not one but two PC led freights leave Rock Ridge for points north. The RC-2 is a very good looking train with the string of tankers powered by the pair of RS units! West Mill is prepared to receive the six empty coal hoppers to forward to the Lehigh Valley via the KP&W. Whew! Railroad connections everywhere in this series!
