P.C.C.M. #106 On The A.P.R.R. Part 1 - Gondolas Galore!

Welcome to another exciting Penn Central Car Movement (P.C.C.M.) on the Atlantic Pacific Railroad! This is P.C.C.M. #106 and is a three layout move with trains departing my Rock Ridge Yard and heading to Sir John's New York Central Train Layout and PC Ralph's Kings Port Division Railroad.

The action begins at the heart of the APRR; Rock Ridge Yard. The crews today will be gathering gondolas for both the N.Y.C.T.L and the K.P.D. The dispatcher at the N.Y.C.T.L. Terminal Yard has requested some empty gondolas which will be forwarded to North Side Yard. Shapeless Steel has those gondolas at the ready. In addition, three gondolas with scrap metal will head to KP Steel on the K.P.D. and turn them back with coil loads for Shapeless Steel.

AP SW1500 #105 with 1:87 engineer Kai in the cab will work the yard under the direction of Yardmaster 1:87 NJ John. AP GP38-2 #303 is at the ready with 1:87 engineer Jim, who will depart the yard and head over to Shapeless Steel.

Kai gives Jim a caboose with conductor Steve W. to assist Jim at Shapeless Steel.

Jim waits for the signal to depart...

And heads out of the yard...

Jim radios the tower operator at Little Jamaica advising them they're ready to depart Rock Ridge.

The signal is given, and they head out as AP Train RS-6

Shapeless Steel has 13 gondolas waiting to be picked up. The N.Y.C.T.L. will receive 7 of them. The K.P.D. will get 3, and the rest will be dropped at Weehawken for pickup by another train headed to Morrisville, PA...

Jim has assembled his train and gets ready to depart..

AP Train RS-6 heads back to Rock Ridge Yard...

Jim has the signal and heads into Rock Ridge Yard up the west ladder...

Jim and Steve check in with NJ John at the office. NJ John tells him that he's going to take some of the gondola cars and other freight cars to Weehawken. The crew goes for a break while his train is assembled...

Kai pulls an APPR gondola with some pipe loads off the end as those will be used by the AP Maintenance team...

Kai picks up some non-PCCM freight cars and adds it to the train...

Jim's caboose is added to the end of the train...

Jim has now picked up his train and will head out...

A stop at CP Industrial South (formerly CP South) for final instructions...

Meanwhile, Kai is building the second train that will head out to Weehawken today...

AP GP38-2 #305/306 will take this train to Weehawken once Jim's train clears the yard limit. At the throttle is 1:87 engineer Norman and brakeman Mark...

Norman heads out to the yard limits...

Jim and Norman are at the yard limits. Jim gets the priority and will head out first as train RW-11...

Norman heads out as train RW-21...

Next stop - Weehaken with a crew and engine change with destinations of West Mill on the KPD, Selkirk and Terminal Yard on the NYCTL...

That's all for today. Tomorrow there will be a special event happening on the Atlantic Pacific Railroad so make sure you check back for this exciting event!
