Welcome to Penn Central Car Movement #108 on the A.P.R.R.! We start this virtual op session as a three layout move featuring Sir John's New York Central Train Layout and PC Ralph's Kings Port Division Railroad, both highly inspired by the Penn Central Railroad. Due to the time of the year, this is probably the last set of moves for my railroad for 2024. So let's begin!!
We start our daily jobs at the heart of the APRR, Rock Ridge Yard...
Yard Manager 1:87 NJ John get the crew ready for today's jobs. First job witll be the Rock Ridge Yard Job RR-1. Outbound cars at American Hardware, PC Richard & Sons for the NYCTL and an empty reefer over at ShopRite for Buffalo Frontier Yard via the KPD are the first order of the day. AP SW1500 #100 with 1:87 Dan start the work...
The three industries are located within Rock Ridge Yard on track 'D', which is dedicated for use by these companies...
The cars will be dropped on a few tracks. Cars for the KPD will be spotted on East Ladder track 11, while cars for the NYCRL will be dropped on tracks 'A' or 'B', depending on the commodity...
There's a few cars over at Tropicana. The green USLX reefer will go to A&P Supermarket on the LIRR via the NYCTL. The white reefers will go over to ShopRite on another move by the yard crew...
The Hostess car will go over to Hostess on the NYCTL along with 3 APRR covered hoppers. a pair of EBRR covered hoppers will go to Ronzoni on the LIRR via the NYCTL. A trio of PC covered hoppers will go to Empire City Cargill. Last, but an NYC covered hopper for Blue Ribbon Flour on the KPD.
Here we see Dan pulling the covered hoppers from Cargill. he'll run them over to the yard for blocking both railroads...
Cars are getting dropped on the appropriate tracks for each railroad...
We're still not finished with picking up freight. AP MP15 engines #106/107 with engineer Kai on board heads out to get a box car from Ideal for to be returned to it's consignee in Flint, MI via the KPD, four TP7W freight cars from Mike's Lumber to University Millwork on the NYCTL, and a trio of gondolas from Shapeless Steel to the KPD for distribution to its consignees...
Kai heads back with the freight...
Checks in with tower operator at Rock Ridge...
Cars are dropped in the yard...
Dan ties down his engine...

Excellent work Sir Neal!!! The three layout PCCM fun continues in Rock Ridge as Rock Ridge, NJ continues to be a PCCM industrial powerhouse with the large Cargill Facility taking center stage. The APRR crew was definitely on their A game moving a large amount of PCCM freight from the Rock Ridge industries to Rock Ridge Yard and getting these freight cars organized for their future movements to the KPD and NYCTL. Well done all around!!!!
Looking forward to Part 2!!!

That was some extensive work switching local industries and Rock Ridge Yard to get trains ready for dispatch northward! The three APRR yellow Hi Cubes looked great in front of PC Richard & Son. How about the sun streaming through the Shapeless Steel sign in an artistic shot from Rock Ridge! Great train action as always in the big yard and surrounding area!
