New York New Jersey Ops #2 Part 5 - Freight Continues To Move Around Rock Ridge Yard

Welcome back to the continuation of our New York New Jersey Ops #2 inbound series. Today the crew at Rock Ridge Yard will send out some local freight as well as prepare for an inbound train from Weehawken Yard...

NJ John will have both switchers on duty today. AP SW1500 #101 with Engineer Kai and SW 1000 #102 with Jim C. will handle the duties in the yard...

The 3 B&M cars from Kellogg in Lancaster PA will head over to ShopRite...

Kai handed them off to Jim C. as these cars need to be shoved on the siding...

Kai pulls the 3 non-Ops reefers that will head out for use in a future series...

Jim drops the B&M cars at ShopRite...

Kai drops the cars on West Ladder track 11...

The 2 cars from Lightning Press in Empire City get delivered to PC Richard & Son with new circulars. Wonder what's going to be on sale?

The EB box cars from Quaker Oats will be delivered to ShopRite. They have a loading dock to handle the 5 cars when needed. Today is one of those days...

ShopRite had expanded a few years ago and took over a warehouse that was being held by 1:87 Sir Neal. Since he had no use for it, he sold it to ShopRite...

Back over in the yard, the crew is building the train that will head over to Ideal Auto Parts. There's 7 cars that will be dropped, 5 at the building and the rest on an adjacent track when Ideal asks for it. Cost them less to move it than store it in the yard. Yard tracks are valuable space at Rock Ridge yard!!

AP MP15's #106/107 will run over to Ideal. Engineer Norman will handle the duties since Sir Neal doesn't need any photos today. Well, maybe one. He's taking Engineer Mark with him. Why? Only Norman knows and NJ John doesn't care as it gets Norman away from him!!

The 86' Box Cars from the Ford Plant in Kentucky will be put on adjacent track west of Ideal...

They're almost ready to go...

Of course they need a caboose! Mark is on the end for now...

Norman checks in with CP Tower Operator Rich T. and gets the final orders as AP Train RE-5

A brief stop at the end of the yard limits...

...And they head out to Ideal Auto Parts with cars in tow!! 😄

Look what showed up! The Penn Central brought over the six PS-2 covered hoppers that had brake line issues. PC GP7  #7139 waits for the signal...

Finally the cars arrive at Rock Ridge Yard. They sit overnight as there will be an outbound train heading out to Morrisville and points in western PA...

The crew pulled the cars, hooked up the caboose to the engine and sent them on their way...

PC 7139 heads out to Weehawken Yard...

Not so quick! A stop signal at Little Jamaica...

Quick enough! They finally get out of town...

A short time later, Norman and Mark arrive over at Ideal. They'll pull a few loaded auto parts cars from Ideal and drop off their empties...

The outbound cars are pulled...

The caboose is cut from the end of the train...

And Mark has dropped the cars at Ideal as Norman wanted to get this on video for his collection! Shaking my head at Norman...😟

The cars from Kentucky are dropped on an adjacent siding and will be switched out when called for...

The moves are completed and the guys head back to the yard...

Approach to the yard via CP Rock is granted...

Norman drops the caboose, then the rest of the cars on east ladder tracks...

Norman and Mark are finished as Kai and Jim C. have completed their moves for today...

Tomorrow we will continue with some moves to C&P Restaurant Supply and Three Amigos Warehouse as well as the some other moves.

Make sure to check out the inbound moves on Sir John's New York Central Train Layout as there's lots of action going on at both Terminal Yard and North Side Yard!!

Thanks for reading!!
