NY-NJ Ops #3 Part 2 - More Freight For The NYCTL Trains

Welcome back to the continuation of our NY-NJ Ops #3 with Sir John's New York Central Train Layout and my Atlantic Pacific Railroad.

Today the Rock Ridge Yard crew will be pulling freight from Marcal Paper, Freihofer's Bakeries, Shapeless Steel and Tropicana. All of this freight will head to various industries in and around Empire City and a few cars for C&P Restaurant Supply...

Yardmaster NJ John gives Engineer Kai some orders for today. Kai and Engineer Jim C. will be fairly busy with the amount of freight inbound...

Jim C gets ready to climb aboard his GP38-2 #302 as he prepares to head out to Freihofer's and Marcal...

Jim slowly departs the yard...

And proceeds out with an approach signal...

Now Jim waits for the signal to proceed to Little Jamaica and jump on the secondary tracks for Marcal and Freihofer's...

A short time later he arrives at Little Jamaica Interlocking and stops to chat with Tower Operator Bob...

There's 11 cars that need to come out of these industries. 10 from Freihofer's and 1 from Marcal. The lone car from Marcal is the HRC 50' box car heading to Dan's Supreme, which will head to Terminal yard and then forwarded to them via the LIRR. The other cars will head to both Pilgrim State Hospital  and Consolidated Groceries...

Jim has all 11 cars and proceeds to head back to Rock Ridge Yard...

AP Train RE-4 heads back to Rock Ridge Yard...

AP Train RE-4 arrives at CP South and checks in with Tower Operator Rich...

Jim ties down in the yard...

Kai starts to work the train...

First set of cars gets dropped on A/D track 'B'...

Before Kai spots the rest of the cars, he grabs the 3 cars at American Hardware, They're loaded with parts to be delivered to Bendix at the Terminal Warehouse & Cold Storage building...

Those cars get spotted on A/D track 'B'...

The rest of the cars will be dropped on A/D track 'C'...

Jim wasn't quite finished. NJ John made him tie down on East Ladder track #2 as he needed the room. Don't mess with NJ John!

Kai turns over his engine to Norman so he can make a run to Shapeless Steel and pick up some steel slabs for Mid Island Steel via the LIRR. The handoff for them is at the Empire Belt RR's North Side Yard who will hand it off for the final leg...

Norman checks in with Rich for routing to Shapeless Steel...

The signal should come up soon, unless Little Jamaica Tower Operator wants to make Norman wait. He eventually was given the railroad...

A short time later, Norman picks up the 3 PC gondolas and heads back to the yard...

Norman checks in with Rich for track assignment...

Down the west ladder it is!!

AP #102 had Dan in the cab and will pull these cars and add them to the outbound train...

Meanwhile, there are 4 cars over at Tropicana that need to come over to the yard. Since the AP yard crews are busy, Tropicana will have their crew bring over the cars. Three are for C&P Restaurant Supply and the Green Tropicana will head to Key Food on the NYCTL...

Making its FIRST appearance ever is Tropicana NW2 #5281. This little guy will bring the cars over to Rock Ridge Yard...

Tropicana NW2 #5281 in action!!

They have the signal and slowly shove over to Rock Ridge Yard...

The APRR yard crew welcomes the new visitors...

They quickly depart, and head back to Tropicana. The AP Yard crew will handle it from here...

Kai adds the car to the outbound freight...

The other 3 cars are dropped on West Ladders 3 & 5 until C&P Restaurant Supply calls for them. Let the demurrage charges begin!!!

We'll cut it here for today. Tomorrow they'll start to build the outbound trains as there's more freight coming in to the yard as well...

Don't forget to check the outbound portion on Sir John's New York Central Train Layout

Thanks for reading!!
