AP GP38-2 #303 arrives to pick freight for Three Amigos Warehouse. Jim W. will take the job today...
Jim pulls 4 Penn Central Box Cars - a pair from Montgomery Ward and a pair from Superior. All freight to be stored at Three Amigos Warehouse...
Jim picks up his caboose. That caboose is was painted by the Patti-O Paint Shops crew on the NYCTL...
Jim checks in with CP South Tower Operator Rich for final routing. They'll take track 1 out of the yard for a quicker run to Three Amigos. The APRR needs to run efficiently and be financially healthy. This adds to the bottom line (of course!), and let's the railroad keep up with maintenance and expansion...
Jim is ready to depart as AP Train RT-2...
Train RT-2 departs for Three Amigos Warehouse...
A short time later, Jim arrives at the West Harold Secondary. Tower operator Bob checks in with Jim...
Jim pulls a string of non-NYNJ freight cars off track 2. This way the inbounds can be dropped...
Jim drops the inbound cars on track 2...
Jim adds the caboose to the end of the train...
A quick run around and he's ready to head out...
Jim returns to Rock Ridge Yard...
Jim has arrived on track 2, and is held at CP South due to yard traffic...
AP GP38-2 #302 has the C&P Restaurant job today with Engineer Mark taking 10 cars over and pulling back 6 reefers. Mark has the following cars to spot:
3 AP box cars from Consolidated Grocery Dist. with groceries
1 BAR Reefer with frozen foods from Consolidated Grocery Dist.
1 BAR Reefer from Birds Eye with frozen foods
1 HRC Box cars with condiments from Block & Guggenheim
4 TP&W Box cars from Consolidated Grocery Dist. with restaurant supplies
Mark pulls his cars from Departure track 'A'...
He grabs his caboose and checks the air lines...
Mark gets orders from Rich and will depart as AP Train RC-2 with 10 cars...
Mark gets the clearance to depart...
AP Train RC-2 departs for C&P Restaurant Supply...
The crew gets to work. Cuts the caboose...
Jim C. drops the cars on A/D track 'B'...
First pull is from track 1 a string of non-NYNJ reefers that will head to Bell & Evans Poultry...
The inbound cars are dropped on both tracks 1 & 2...
Mark is ready to head out and checks in with Little Jamaica Tower Operator Steve. Steve holds him until CP Tower lets them know the yard is ready...
AP SW1001 #102 is heads over to Tropicana to pick up a trio of Penn Central box cars that will be moved back to the yard and then over to Mike's Lumber for their next NYNJ Ops move...
Meanwhile, Mark is at the Rock Ridge Yard Limits as Jim W. is still waiting to head into the yard...
Jim arrives at the yard...
The yard crew drops the non-NYNJ inbound cars from Three Amigos Warehouse...
Jim ties down on East Ladder track 4...
Mark has been waiting to get into the yard and finally gets the signal...
Rich tells Mark to head up the west ladder and tie down. The night shift will break down his train as he's close to having to outlaw...
Mark is greeted by NJ John and others...
The train is tied down. Today's work is completed with little time to spare...
We'll cut it here for today. Tomorrow the AP crew has a few more moves to make plus make room for more inbound freight.
Don't forget to check the freight moves on Sir John's New York Central Train Layout as there was a lot of freight being handled by the PC crews at Terminal Yard and the EB crews at North Side Yard.

Acknowledge AP102 returning to Rock Ridge Yard with 3 NY-NJ freight cars for movement to their next loads.
Terminal Yard out...
The efficiency of the APRR Rock Ridge Crew is a model that both 1:1 and model railroads can learn from and should incorporate into their local operations. Nice seeing Patti-O Paint Shop graduate AP caboose #79 in action along with the other cabooses in the AP fleet. Thanks for the shout out!!! This was another very enjoyable look at the NY-NJ ops in Rock Ridge NJ and I am looking forward to part 7!!!
