P.C.C.M. #75 Part 1 - Outbound Preparation Starts On The A.P.R.R.

Welcome to the newest installment of the Penn Central Car Movements - Number 75!!

This is another 3 layout move featuring Sir John's fantastic N.Y.C.T.L. and PC Ralph's incredible K.P. & W.

We're going to start today's outbound with crews heading in and around Rock Ridge Freight Yard.

Freight assignments as follows:
AP MP15 #105 is at the ready as he picks up his caboose. 1/87th Steve and his trusty sidekick 1/87th Bob will head over to Shapeless Steel to grab a couple of empty EB gondolas. They'll head to Gervais Pipe on the N.Y.C.T.L.

AP caboose #79 is picked up and they'll head out...

A quick stop at CP South. A chat with the tower operator 1/87th Rich to make sure everything is in order/

Waiting for the signal to come up...

AP train RS-3 heads over to Shapeless Steel!

AP Train RS-3 is on the West Harold Secondary and will pull the 2 empty cars off Shapeless Steel track 2...

They head back west, caboose on the head with the brakeman 1/87th Bob being the eyes for Steve...

Passing Freihofer Bakeries near Little Jamiaca. Looks like they slowed down to get a whiff of those Chocolate Chip Cookies!!

As they get closer to home, they'll stop at CP South for instructions...

They'll head into the yard and drop off the cars...

AP #105 shoves the gondola cars on A/D track "C". They'll move it later on when they start to build the departing train.

Meanwhile, over at R.M.O. Electric, AP #900 is fired up and will pull a pair of KP&W empty coal hopper cars. They'll head over to the LV via West Mill on the KP&W, their home base. 1/87th JP knows the drill and he'll run these over to the yard. Piece of cake for JP!

1/87th JP takes the empties over to Rock Ridge..

A stop at the office and JP is told where to spot the cars...

Looks like they're getting dropped on the East ladder yard track 4

Back at the plant, 1/87th JP parks his engine and will head in to the plant for lunch! Union rules here...

AP #302 is going to pick up three PC covered hoppers. Their final destination is the EC Cargill Plant in Empire City..

Tower operator 1/87th Rich instructs Engineer 1/87th Jim to run long hood forward with his brakeman 1/87th Stuart to pick up the covered hoppers. Call sign is AP train RC-1...

Here we see AP #302 departing Cargill...

AP #302 arriving at Rock Ridge...

AP #302 ran over to American Hardware to pull the PC Hi-Cube car, which will head over to Peerless Appliance on the KP&W...

They spot the Hi-Cube a couple tracks over and it will be added to the blocked cars headed to West Mill and the KP&W...

AP #300 is fired up with 1/87th Engineer Matt B and once again, brakeman Stuart. Seems they're short some brakeman as there was a huge storm and power failure beyond Rock Ridge and some of the crew couldn't get to work. Stuart, was on the property, so they grabbed him. Besides, he's one of the younger guys in the organization. We think you can figure out the rest...

They grab a caboose and get ready to depart...

They're going to head over to Three Amigos Warehouse to pick up a PC box car, which will head to Battaglia Bros. on the KP&W

It's off to Three Amigos Warehouse!!

A quick stop at West Harold as 1/87th Matt spots a classic car parked next to West Harold tower. Matt asks 1/87th Tower operator Norman if that's his set of wheels. Norman just smiles at him, shouts up to the cab 'Greetings' and tells him he decided to take it to work for a change. Matt likes the car...

They pick up the box car and head back to Rock Ridge..

Heading West from West Harold...

Passing West Harold thru Little Jamaica and back to Rock Ridge...

They arrive at CP South and head around the yard to come in thru the north end by CP Rock...

The car is spotted in the yard....

The car is dropped and they'll park themselves on the east ladder track 2 for now...

Once last move in the yard. They need to pull the Morton Salt car, loaded with salt for Ronzoni in Long Island City. This will be sent to Terminal  Yard i=on the N.Y.C.T.L. and they will deliver the car to Ronzoni.

The car is moved into position to make it easier to the next days crew to build the train.

That's all for now. Next up - preparing the train to depart Rock Ridge for Selkirk via Weehawken and beyond! Don't forget to check out my friends who have started these P.C.C.M. virtual train op sessions which I am proud to be part of....

Thanks for reading!!

Greta opening post and great seeing the A.P.R.R. trains back in revenue service!!!! Photos and videos were excellent. I really like watching the signal aspects change. Rock Ridge Yard, A.P.R.R. power and cabooses all looking good! Norman's El Camino looking sharp as well!

    West Mill out.

Glad to see that the storm damage has been cleared and trains are rolling again! That silver and green PC covered hopper is eye catching making its debut in the P.C.C.M. posts, I think. Railroad action was enjoyable to follow and who wouldn't admire the El Camino!?
