Welcome everyone to another Penn Central Car Movement - #82! This virtual op session will be a three layout move with Sir John's N.Y.C.T.L. and PC Ralph's Kings Port Division Railroad
April 1 was the time the Penn Central was taken over by Conrail in 1976, so I felt it fitting to have this set of blog posts in GREEN to honor the Penn Central!!
We're going to start this part where it all takes place - Rock Ridge Yard!
Today the crew will pick up freight cars from C&P Restaurant Supply, Freihofer's, Three Amigos Warehouse, Cargill and Tropicana. R.M.O. Electric is very low on coal, so the empties will head out to Hudson Coal on the N.Y.C.T.L. and Hedberg Aggregates on the K.P. & W. ShopRite, located at the south end of Rock Ridge Yard has cars going to both railroads for distribution to selected consignees.
Making its inaugural revenue debut, MP15DC AP #106 will head out to C&P Restaurant Supply, Freihofers and Three Amigos. 1:87 scale NJ John will be in the cab for today's job which is AP RC-2...
Another engine making its debut is MP15DC AP #107 will be the next engine at the ready once AP #106 heads out...

Next stop will be Three Amigos Warehouse & Storage to pick up PC 142770 which will have a car load of used pallets for City Pallets..
A quick stop at CP West Harold. Tower operator 1:87 Scale Bob lets the crew know they can pick up the box car and proceed east once they check couplers and air pressure...
Let's watch AP #106 pick up PC 142770 at Three Amigos Watehouse...
Now the departure from the West Harold Secondary....
AP train RC-2 is being held at the Rock Ridge Yard Limits. There's movement in the yard, so they'll wait for a call from CP South Tower...
AP #107 with 1:87 scale engineer Norman does a quick move over to ShopRite where he will pick up 4 box cars. A pair of Empire Belt 40' Box cars are loaded with non-perishable food for Terminal Warehouse. The 50' K.P. & W. box cars loaded with non -perishables for Cavendish Foods.
They'll spot the cars on the east ladder...AP #107 has spotted the cars on East ladder track 6 in front of 4 AP empty ballast cars. Their final destination is T&R Gravel on the N.Y.C.T.L. the sole supplier of ballast to the A.P.R.R.
Next job out is RR-5 from R.M.O. Electric. 8 empties to Hudson Coal on the N.Y.C.T.L. and an AP hopper to Hedberg Aggregates on the K.P. & W. AP GE 44 Tonner #900 with 1:87 scale engineer JP revs up for the job...
The empties now head over to Rock Ridge Yard. AP #900 drops them off...
The cars are dropped on the west arrival / departure track in the yard..
The job is done and AP #900 is back on the property...

Terminal Yard out...
A big welcome to the virtual ops for AP 106 and AP107!!! They look great and with AP 105 make an impressive roster of yard and local power. Nice seeing ol' 900 still contributing to the revenue earnings and holding down the RMO Electric job.
I enjoyed the MR-3 meet and all of the videos. An excellent start to PCCM 82 for the APRR!!!! Well done Sir Neal!!!
Thank you Sir John! We're working on getting more non- PCCM trains in the mix for more action!

West Mill out.
More fine looking A.P.R.R. motive power to admire! The orange and black scheme is a favorite of mine!
The loading dock at Three amigos looks like a busy place! Nice work moving those cars! I appreciated the green font tribute to the PC!
Thank you PC Ralph! Three Amigos is always busy as they're constantly handling freight. I still saw the G&W stole my paint scheme!
DeleteThose new switchers got quite a workout. Nice break in for them! Btw: My son is an assistant manager at a ShopRite in Berlin, NJ. I wonder f any of his inventory passes through Rock Ridge Yard?
