P.C.C.M. #82 Part 4 On The A.P.R.R. - The Inbound Freight Arrives!

Welcome back to the inbound portion of Penn Central Car Movement #82. This is a three layout move featuring Sir John's N.Y.C.T.L. and PC Ralph's Kings Port & Western Railroad

Today we start bringing in freight from both railroads. The N.Y.C.T.L.sent from Terminal Yard a 20 car train directly to Rock Ridge Yard. The crew took the required break at Selkirk Yard and then headed down to Weehawken and Rock Ridge.

Here we see PC Train SK-5 from Terminal Yard at a stop signal on the AP Main at West Harold Interlocking. This is a new signal installed by the AP Signal Department. It's an absolute stop signal and PC 6533 is at a complete stop. He can't proceed thru the signal, unless he had a different aspect, such as the old stop and proceed. The APRR is going thru a complete signal upgrade. More about that on a future blog post...

Here we see PC Train SK-5 Thru West Harold Interlocking

Next signal is at Little Jamaica Interlocking...

The approach signal is given, and they can proceed to the Rock Ridge Yard Limits...

Let's watch PC Train SK-5 arrive in Rock Ridge Yard thru CP South.

The entire Rock Ridge Yard Crew has come out to greet the crew from the N.Y.C.T.L. Terminal Yard! We see 1:87 scale NJ John, Norman, Rich, Mark and Dan. These guys haven't seen a GE U Boat in a long time, probable a first for 1:87 scale Dan since he's the youngest one on the payroll...

NJ John tells the crew to head over to "Meet At Ralph's" Diner for some Joisey Chow and the guys will take PC 6533 and PC 3175 over to Richmond Hill Engine Terminal for some refueling and then send them back to Terminal Yard....

PC 6533 & PC 3175 passing by CP South, southern end of Rock Ridge Yard....

Meanwhile, Extra AP 301 with freight from West Mill and Selkirk has arrived at West Harold Interlocking....

Here we see Extra AP 301 thru West Harold Interlocking....

Now thru Little Jamaica Interlocking. They'll stop at the Rock Ridge Yard Limit signal....

Meanwhile, the crew starts to break down PC Train SK-5....

Now with some of the inbound freight moved from SK-5, Extra AP 301 can head into the yard...

AP 301 high balling Thru West Harold Interlocking....

Some final breaking down of  Extra AP 301 in the yard. AP 107 handles moves. The crew notes that Extra AP 301 was short a car. Turns out LV 7120 from Heinz to C&P was pulled out of service at Weehawken due to mechanical issues. An AP crew will pick up the car when it's been repaired.

A little video of AP 107 sorting cars...

We'll cut it here for today. Tomorrow the crew will start building the trains that will head out to deliver freight throughout the Atlantic Pacific Railroad system.

Don't for get tho check these two amazing layouts who make our virtual op sessions fun and a huge success!

Great job Sir Neal!! Following the trains as they negotiate the signalled busy mainlines of Rock Ridge NJ is always fun to watch!!! Train SK-5 was a good looking train and rolling advertisement for our joint paint projects! I liked the efficiency of the AP crews in the 106 and 107 clearing yard space for Extra 301. The photo of AP107 behind the tower was a nice angled shot. Well done!!!

Nice work bringing both trains into Rock Ridge! I enjoyed all of the video coverage and liked the close up track side views at West Harold. The new signal installation there looks fantastic! John's right about the custom paint work show in your installment! Great looking APRR and Empire Belt rolling stock with a little KP&W thrown in as well! AP 107 sorting cars was a pleasure to watch!

    1. The KP&W cars do look great! I should have mentioned them. I always enjoy seeing them in revenue service.
