P.C.C.M. #99 On The A.P.R.R. Part 2 - Freight Is Sorted And Blocked For The Outbound Train

Welcome back to the continuation of the outbound portion of P.C.C.M. #99 on the Atlantic Pacific Railroad! Our 3 layout virtual op moves has the Sir John's NYCTL and PC Ralph's KPD Railroads preparing their outbound freights for the APRR.

Today we start over at Rock Ridge East Yard. 1:87 Scale Engineer Norman is back in EB 8163 and needs to drop off his covered hoppers. However, the tracks that he normally uses are occupied.

Auto Racks at the yard? Sir 1:87 Neal has been asked by the Ford Motor Co. to store and hold as needed auto rack cars for its plant in Mahwah, NJ** This is new business for the APRR and should add some nice income for the railroad...

Norman eases his train on to track 3...

Here we go...

1:87 Scale Yardmaster NJ John checks in with Norman. A job well done!

Over at Cargill, 1:87 Engineer JP has a cut of 5 covered hoppers that he will bring over to the yard..

JP picking up at Cargill

Next stop is a pickup at Tropicana..

JP checks in at CP South to drop off the freight..

JP drops the freight on track 'C', which is used for both inbound and outbound freight...

Next pickup in the yard is over at ShopRite and PC Richard with 1:87 Engineer Dan doing the 'Rock Ridge Shuffle'!

Dan has pulled the cars and drops them on the A/D track 'B'...

Meanwhile, AP 303 prepares to depart Rock Ridge Yard for the engine terminal..

AP 303 is readied to depart, and waits a few as AP 307 approaches the yard..

AP 303 clears Little Jamaica and heads to Richmond Hill Engine Terminal...

AP 307 at CP South and heads into the yard...

...And AP 307 is in the yard..

Dan takes over the yard duties and starts to block cars..

1:87 Engineer Matt handles some cars as well...

Dan picks up the car at Morton Salt..

And hands it off to 1:87 Scale Engineer Matt in AP #105 to finish the move. Nothing like tag teaming in the yard. Very efficient!

Now they proceed to classify the freight that Kai brought in on AP 307...

Meanwhile, Kai is at the yard limit and awaits the signal to head to the engine terminal..

Kai heads out and sees his buddy Jim ahead of him heading to the engine terminal. Both crews are passing thru West Harold Interlocking...

Matt and Dan work to classify the rest of the cars for the outbound train....

Dan has his engines and cars under control...

Matt as well...

Matt has dropped the last of the cars and the work is done for today.

Tomorrow we'll have the freight head out to PC Ralph's Kings Port Division Railroad and then on to Sir John's New York Central Train Layout. The train will drop off at the KPD's West Mill Yard then on to Selkirk where the NYCTL will pick up their freight for Terminal Yard.

Thanks for reading!

Auto Racks in Rock Ridge Yard East look great and will help with the bottom line!! The "Rock Ridge Shuffle" is all the craze in NJ this year!!! Another fine episode Sir Neal!!! There is a large amount of PCCM freight traffic at Rock Ridge Yard today that was handled efficiently and safely by the APRR crew. Terminal Yard is standing by for the onslaught of PCCM freight traffic!!
Acknowledge AP 307 heading to R.H.E.T caboose lite.

The strings of auto racks were a neat surprise and add some nice operational interest with the connection to the Mahwah plant. Thanks for the background on what was once the largest auto plant in the nation! I enjoyed following the efficient and cooperative switching efforts of AP 100, 105, 106, 107, 303, and 307. The APRR roster shines at Rock Ridge! The Great Locomotive Race seemed to be happening at West Harold which was a cool sight to see! I noticed the nice looking Bethlehem Steel gons.
