NY-NJ Ops #3 Part 5 - The Inbound Train From Maybrook Yard Arrives At Rock Ridge Yard

Hello everyone and welcome back to the inbound portion of our NY-NJ Ops #3 on my Atlantic Pacific Railroad. Freight has left Sir John's New York Central Train Layout and is now approaching Rock Ridge Yard.

Today the AP yard crew needs to make some room in the yard. 1:87 Yardmaster NJ John will have the crew move some cars out of the yard to some consignees around Rock Ridge...

Kai has SW1500 #101 - he loves this engine!!

Making the moves as these cars were on the East Ladder...

Kai will drop them on the West Ladder...

AP GP38-2  #302 is going to make the run with Engineer Mark...

Adding some box cars for C&P. Lumber loads are for Mike's Lumber...

The crew adds the caboose...

Mark is ready to depart the yard...

Some final orders from Tower Operator Rich...

The crew awaits the signal from Little Jamaica Tower Operator Bob...

Train RW-4 departs...

AP RW-4 heads out from Rock Ridge Yard...

A short time later, the crew arrives at C&P Restaurant Supply....

First they need to remove some non NY-NJ Ops cars from tracks 1 and 2. Track 1 is for reefers, track 2 gets everything else that's non-perishable...

Outbound cars are dropped on the secondary track...

...And Mark drops the empty box cars...

Now on to Mike's Lumber. Four cars coming out...

And four loaded bulkhead flat cars from Georgia Pacific Lumber get dropped...

Mark is being held on the secondary as there's other traffic that needs to get into Rock Ridge...

Meanwhile, three Penn Central box cars from Container Packaging in Reading, PA has cardboard containers for Tropicana...

Jim C. is in AP SW1000 #102 and drops the cars in the industrial lead by Tropicana...

Tropicana sends their NW2 to pick up the 3 cars...

A quick run out to the track...

Tropicana dropping the cars on Trop Track 4...

We now head back to the yard and Yardmaster NJ John is having a word with the crew on AP Dash 8-40B #2370. Engineer Norman is in the cab today. Yes, Norman has many talents at the APRR. They're going to take some outbound freight to their Morrisville, PA Yard, a shared yard with the Penn Central...

Outbound freight loaded on the West Ladder...

The yard crew adds the caboose...

Norman checks in with Rich at the tower...

Holding for a signal. He should be leaving shortly...

Penn Central Extra 3111 is sitting at West Harold. One of these two trains is going to move, so who goes first?

Let's see who runs first!

Penn Central Extra 3111 arrives at Rock Ridge Yard via CP Rock, the northern end of the yard. The crew will run down the ladder and hold at CP South while the yard crew pulls all the cars on the train....

PC 3111/3141 sits at the tower while Rich gives them a timeline...

Jim is hard at work...

Four EB gondolas from Gershow Recycling will head out to Bethlehem Steel with scrap on the next Allentown Train...

Four AP gondolas from Gervais Pipe will go to Shapeless Steel...

Cars get dropped in the yard...

The LV box car from Lightning Press will head to Three Amigos Warehouse and Storage. The pair of those bright Orange 40' AP Box cars will head to C&P with beer. Those cars will need to be watched...

Six AP and EB 57' reefers from Birdseye Foods will head to C&P Restaurant Supply. They'll get dropped on track 1 when it gets delivered. That's their 'reefer' track!

Kai has the caboose and will add it to the PC engines by CP South...

The Penn Central crew is just about ready to leave...

At the yard limits....

The signal is up and their off! Next stop...Weehawken Yard!

The guys tie down in the yard...

So what happened to Mark and his train? Well, the moves in Rock Ridge took so long that he 'outlawed' and will have to leave the train where it is until tomorrow. They'll send a taxi to pick him up. Oh well, tomorrow is another day...

That's it for today. Tomorrow the yard crew will start to work on blocking the freight cars for each industry. Be sure to check the inbound portion of Sir John's New York Central Train Layout.

See you tomorrow and thanks for reading!!

Beyond superb Sir Neal!!! A definite NY-NJ Hall of Fame post!!! You had me from the get go and closed it perfectly with engineer Mark outlawing. The PC and APRR moved a tremendous amount of NY-NJ and non NY-NJ tonnage this day illustrating two railroads working at peak performance to achieve common goals. Looking forward to part 5!!!
